A list of puns related to "Robin (answering machine)"
The Disappearance:
Sunday, 7 January, 2001. That afternoon, after getting off of work, 21-year-old Laurent Duban wanted to go out for a ride. In Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, just outside of Paris, Laurent set out with his scooter. Shortly after, he disappeared.
Laurent was born on the 12th of June, 1979, in La-Celle-Saint-Cloud, a western suburb of Paris. He was described as tall, standing at 1m78 (or 5'10). Handsome, with light brown hair and blue eyes, he had two prominent scars: one, shaped like a comma, on the right side of his chin, and another on his calf.
Laurent lived in an apartment in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. At the time, he was employed as the sous chef in a nearby restaurant, located right outside the city. For him, it was more than just a job. "Cooking was his passion," recalled Laurent's mother Catherine. "He wouldn't have missed a day of work for the world."
Besides his love for the culinary arts, Laurent enjoyed going out in his free time -- not unusual for someone his age. He was a popular young man, with many friends of both sexes, and an active social life. Laurent was said to be fond, in particular, of the nightlife.
The workday, for Laurent, was a normal one. He came to the restaurant that afternoon and filled out his orders for the week. After he finished up for the day, he apparently decided to take a ride on his scooter. He rode around in the commune of Issy-les-Moulineaux in the Hauts-de-Seine department.
Issy-les-Moulineaux, only about 7 kilometers from the 14th arrondissement, is a southern suburb of Paris. At the time, it had a population of about 53,000 people. The area is relatively safe -- its rate of violent crime is lower than the average for Hauts-de-Seine, which isn't high to begin with. In 2014, there were zero cases of homicide, or attempted homicide, reported in the commune.
Around 6 PM, Laurent tried to call a friend, but she didn't pick up. Laurent left a message on her answering machine: "C'est chaud, je te rappellerai."
Je te rappellerai means "I'll call you back". C'est chaud literally means "it's hot", but colloquially, it's an expression used to express tension or worry. It's hard to give an exact English equivalent, but depending on the situation, you might interpret it is as "this is crazy" or "this is bad". (Note: I am not a native French speaker, so there may be some nuances to the phrase which I'm missing).
What's odd is that the sentenc
... keep reading on reddit β‘My whole day has been sitting on hold. I tried the call-you-back option and they did call me back in a half hour... then I waited for an hour and a half as the next person in line. I thought that couldn't be right so I hung up and re-dialed and just did the normal waiting thing. There were 15 people in front of me I was told. So that was a two hour wait. The person who finally answered transferred me to someone's answering machine. Just the worst.
What should I ask it?
That's really all I know, and they had some pretty severe mental problems
Iβm getting worried about my order!
I think that the βtil death do us partβvoice message recording is directly related to the old movies from last weeks episode. In β95 kate wanted to rent old movies with mallory and ash for her birthday, and has a bout of ptsd during the movie. We believe its because the characters are being chased but maybe her βloveβ for old movies themselves are a repressed memory from her time in captivity.
I think Kateβs biggest secret is not that that she went to Martins, I think its that she willingly stayed at Martins for months without telling her family, friends, Jamie, etc. because they were in βloveβ (aka groomed). During this period of her disappearance I think she had free range of the house and the illusion of freedom- kind of like Martin would go to work during the day while she played the role of a housewife. My guess is that Martin is the one who inspired a love for old movies. My guess is also that this all came to a screeching halt on Christmas Eve. Maybe on Christmas Eve is when Kate starts really missing her family and other loved ones. She tells martin that she would like to go home and see her family for Christmas and make up with her mom and he tells her no but gifts Kate the red dress we see in the promos. Kate plays it off cool so that things donβt escalate As she realizes that she is a prisoner.
While Martin is preoccupied, kate secretly tries to call Jamie. Martin returns too early though and Kate doesnβt have time to hang up the phone before they start hooking up. The sounds in the voice message did not sound strained or violent to me - I think it actually did sound like two people having sex during a movie. Midway through, Martin find the phone and realizes that Kate was trying to call someone to escape. I think this could be when he throws Kate in the basement for the first time.
The movie itself could potentially be an item that Jeanette borrowed/stole or gifted to someone. We know that she already broke in and stole the yearbook and she broken again to steal the CD to give to Vincent. I think specifically she couldβve been in the house trying to steal some last-minute Christmas gifts such as the snow globe for Malory. Maybe while she was stealing the snow globe for Malory she was hidden in a closet listening to Kate and Martin having sex during that part of the movie. And maybe at the time she could not see who was having sex with Martin. But jamies voicemail triggers that memory of the snowglobe malory still has
Jeanette also said i
... keep reading on reddit β‘seems so common in early 2000s, 90s shows to have an answering machine be part of everything and I think it's crazy now it's mostly with smartphones and stuff. I dont know what i like better, maybe someone smarter can answer what the differences pros and cons and how its changed tv?
Did you ever hear one of these corny, positive messages on someone's answering machine? "Hi, it's a great day and I'm out enjoying it right now. I hope you are too. The thought for the day is 'share the love.' Beep."
"Uh, yeah...this is the VD clinic calling.... Speaking of being positive, your test results are back. Stop sharing the love."
Is there a way to connect a regular DSL landline call and reroute it to a PC to record voicemail when I'm out of the home? I don't really know much about networking in general, please bear with me.
Every year since then, despite changing numbers and phones, I get the exact same answering machine at this time.
So I recently received a letter from a new penpal. But the thing is he just answer the questions. He never add anything more to conversation or react to my answers. Like when I ask him about his favourite books he just list them and send the letter. It might be because we just started exchanging letter or maybe because distance between us is less( letter arrive within an hour) so he don't have any urgency to write detailed letter or maybe he just don't care. I am thinking about ghosting him but I come here to find some solution for this. I want to say him to talk freely and openly but don't know how to word it because English is not my first language and their English is really good.
So back in the early 2000s I must have been DLing atdi from Napster or Kazaa or something and came across some recordings that were supposedly prank messages that At the Drive-In members had left on the studio answering machine when they were recording Relationship of Command. I remember there was one where the caller was pretending to be Gwen Stefani from No Doubt and another one where it was Christopher Walken telling a story about when he "ran into the At the Drive-In boys".
I can't find anything online about this now though. Of course they may well be fake, but I remember them being pretty funny at least.
Has anyone heard of these? Or even better got the tapes?!
When Clem's dad gets bitten, he and her mum go the ER, and on the second answering machine message she says "I don't know if you tried to reach us, all the calls are getting dropped...", what does that mean? Does it just mean the phone calls aren't working properly due to a network overload, as the outbreak was just starting? Someone told me it meant that.
In the same message, "they're not letting us leave and aren't telling us anything about Atlanta", but who are "they" in this message? Is it the police or something, who have quarantined off the city due to the outbreak? And what is happening in Atlanta at that point? Is that where the outbreak was just starting out?
And she also says she has to get back to the hospital? So where is she at that point, and why aren't they letting them leave the hospital? Also in this message I assume she's frantically trying to get hold of Sandra (Clem's babysitter) to make sure they're both safe and wants her to take Clem to Marietta to be safe too, as she didn't know there was the outbreak there too at that moment?
Also, in the final answering message, she asks Clem to call the police. Why is that? So she can get safe again? How does she know Sandra isn't there anymore at that time, if she does at all? And do you think Clem's mum (Diana) been bitten at this point? As soon as the messages stop, Lee picks up the family photo on the desk, which implies he knows they're already dead, but how does he come to this conclusion? Because the family haven't left any more messages? Sorry if that's an obvious one lol.
I know the answering machine cuts out before Diana finishes her last message but could that have been her turning into a walker?

I get on average 70 calls a day on my mobile phone. At a minimum its 55 calls on a day with a relatively low workload. And thats just on my mobile phone. I receive 30 or so calls on my landline. People keep on calling continously 4,5, 10 times even after not picking up or messaging them that I am busy. I work at a customer service desk dealing with clients face to face and this is driving me crazy having to answer and reply to calls on mobile, landline, answer in email, deal with clients face to face ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
I am looking for a voicemail app where on the click of a button when my phone is ringing or when people call (except certain numbers), their call will get straight to voicemail. I can also listen to them replying to the voicemail and I can click a button to pickup the phone while they are talking to the voicemail/answering machine.
The app needs to be free. I am on Android 10 by the way. I am in Bangladesh so services like Google Voice is not available for my country.
I posted this request on r/techsupport as well.
I want to help some folks here on reddit that have some very personal, and important messages from loved ones who have passed on.
About 10 years ago I found a person/company that took a voicemail I had saved again and again, from my late grandma, and converted it into an mp3. Unfortunately, I have lost all the correspondence with them and cannot find a similar service.
I feel bad I can't help. If I remember right, I reached out to people on reddit all those years ago and someone pointed me in the right direction, and I have my grandma's voice forever thanks to them. I'd really like to return that kindness.
Please help me find this service.
Perfection. Lorelai telling her parents she and Christopher got married on the answering machine is everything. Their reaction, playing it over and over, and the connection between Emily and Richard make me giddy.
