In the hit film Spiderman 2 (2004), Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) keeps telling Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) to kiss her despite his constant rejection. This alludes to the fact that MJ doesn't actually love Peter as she has no regard for his boundaries and personal feelings.

Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell in His Kind of Woman (1951) - body rejects transplant

His Kind of Woman (1951) should have been a classic film noir with two movie stars reuniting, Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell previously seen together in The Big Steal (1949).

Unfortunately, it's inconsistent in tone and a labrythine, overlong and tongue in cheek mess of a movie.

There's a good film here mostly featuring Mitchum and Russell when they're on screen together, they have some chemistry. Mitchum is Dan Milner a professional gambler while Jane Russell is Lenore Brent a singer. They find each other in Mexico and there is a spark but complications keep them apart.

There's an amusing scene with Mitchum winning a game of cards which is pure leading man charm.

Unfortunately apart from this there's little to engage with here because the plot is too convoluted. The log-line reveals this messy film: A deported gangster's plan to re-enter the USA involves skulduggery at a Mexican resort, and gambler Dan Milner is caught in the middle. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043643/?ref_=tt_urv

Part of the narrative revolves around deported underworld boss Nick Ferraro plotting to get back into the USA posing as Milner after undergoing plastic surgery as supposedly the two men look similar. This is such a wacky idea!

After the film was complete the movie studio owner Howard Hughes decided it needed copious rewrites and reshoots. Vincent Price plays the character of a Hollywood actor Mark Cardigan but the performance is ripe and intentionally over the top. Howard Hughes loved it and wanted to feature the character more giving him an enlarged role. Jane Russell was a Howard Hughes creation in Hollywood after he first saw photos of her in a brochure.

Watching His Kind of Woman feels like you're viewing two completely different movies fused together but we are left with the body rejecting the transplant; we can tell they're not a match and this fusion ends up killing the good parts of the film with Mitchum and Russell.

If you're a huge fan of either Robert Mitchum or Jane Russell you might want to catch this but it's certainly no classic. If you do watch this movie it's probably more worth it for the incongruous mishmash taking place on screen which is a little fun certainly not the classic film noir which was envisioned at the start of production.

[Marvel Comics] She-Hulk and the 2010s: How getting put in a coma was just the start of an awful decade for Marvel's jade giantess

> Introduction: β€œToday, I'm judge, jury, and executioner.”

(photo for the mobile crowd)

In the late 1970s, Marvel's Not-So-Jolly Green Giant, the Incredible Hulk, was starring in a hit TV series. Known today for its incredibly melancholic piano intro and being the debut of Lou Ferringo as the depiction of Hulk, the series would run for eighty episodes between 1978 and 1982. As the series went on, Marvel began to fear that the show would go the obvious route of introducing a female Hulk counterpart. Wanting to have the rights locked in just in case of that eventuality (and because Hulk showrunner Kenneth Johnson had done that very thing in prior show The Six Million Dollar Man, Stan Lee would be tasked with making this character- his final original character until 1992's Ravage 2099.

Jennifer Walters is an timid attorney whose cousin, Bruce Banner, happens to have a gamma radiation condition which makes him dangerous to make angry. When the two meet, Jen is caught in the perpetual crossfire between the Hulk and the military, leading to Bruce being the only viable blood doner to save her life. Reluctently doing so, Jennifer gains lessened versions of Bruce's powers, but is able to control them to a greater degree. Growing to love the newfound lease on life that her powers gave her, Jennifer adopts the mantle of She Hulk,

Jen quickly became a beloved character during the 1980s, helped by a great guest tenure on the Fantastic Four during the John Byrne era which led to him tacking a solo series focused on Jen. Jen's biggest trait at the time was her more lighthearted and jokey personality, which often involved skits in the comics of Jen being aware she was a fictional character- years before Deadpool ran that joke into the ground so deep the Mole Men filed a complaint. Jen would even butt heads with the comic's version of Byrne and his creative team for the wacky situations they'd throw her into. This even extended to the covers, where Jen threatened the audience to support the book or admitting she was just posing provocatively to attract the eye of the reader.

Jennifer would spend the 80s, 90s and 2000s amassing a ded

Would you date someone who wasn't into you before you lost weight/got attractive?

My friend John was slightly overweight with long hair. He was really into his friend Jane, but she turned him down (kindly) when he asked her out. Their friendship cooled but they have mutual friends so bump into each other now and then

John in recent months decided to lose some weight, cut his hair, shave the scraggly beard, dress better. He looks great. He was below average before, 9.5/10 now. Honestly shocked how much difference so little change made

Anyway, apparently he bumped into Jane recently and since then she's been reaching out to see him again. I told him great, you were so into this girl before and now you have a chance! Dream come true! He says no, she wouldn't date him before so she doesn't really like him, she's just shallow and into him now for his looks.

I told him he's being stupid, attraction matters and she just wasn't attracted to you before. He says what if he gains weight, gets wrinkles, etc.? He would always worry she would leave him

I'm a bit flummoxed. I think he's being hard on her and unrealistic, but am having a hard time explaining why. Am I wrong?

Reddit, what do you think?

Edit: to everyone saying I am actually Jane - I'm a lesbian, so not into John at all. I guess I'm puzzled by this because I've been in his shoes, my weight has fluctuated over my life and people are definitely way more interested in me when I'm thin, but I don't hold that against them. I also only want to date women I'm attracted to and I wouldn't be attracted to me at my higher weight. From the responses to this post I am starting to get the impression I am shallow lol

Also, to everyone who seems to think I am harassing John and demanding he give Jane a chance: I'm not. This was a brief conversation and I'm interested to hear the perspective of others because this is not how my mind thinks at all. I assure you John did not take offense to me saying he was acting dumb because he has said the same to me many times.

My Favorite NO WAY HOME Moments (BIG SPOILERS)

Hi all! I don't really know where else to talk about this stuff. It feels if I just dump it on Twitter it's unfair to the people who don't want to know details, so I figured I'd just post a random grab-bag of things I really liked in NO WAY HOME.

  • The beginning is just a lot of fun. Hilarious but still tense and everyone makes it look EASY.

  • The fact Peter doesn't ask Strange to do the spell because life is too hard now - it's because MJ and Ned are being rejected by colleges purely for associating with him. Peter's unselfishness has always been one of the best things about the character and NWH runs with it.

  • Doc Ock's introduction. Giacchino reprising Elfman's score, "The power of the sun in the palm of my hand!" Molena looks a little older but doesn't miss a beat feeling like exactly the same Octavius.

  • Electro just being cool in this universe. He's more like real Jamie Foxx, totally confident. This is a plot point - he LIKES this world and who he is in it, why would he want to go back to how he was?

  • Really playing up the Norman/Goblin dichotomy. He isn't crazy Norman Osborne the whole time - he tries to stay as lucid as he can and help.

  • "You know, I'm something of a scientist myself." Yes, I laughed, what of it?

  • The film's poking at the silliness of the Multiverse, like Peter being with MJ Watson who is not Mary Jane Watson. Or Ned wondering if there's millions of other Neds out there.

  • Peter figuring out how to win against Doctor Strange in the Mirror Universe. Math vs. Magic!

  • The film playing fair with how the other movies treated the villains, particularly Raimi's. Flint comes in as an ally to Peter (but doesn't know if he can trust him when he realizes this is a different Peter). Norman and Octavius' minds were turned against them, they aren't actually terrible people.

  • May's death. Some people might be a little thrown by the execution but I adored it. She's in shock and thinks she's okay, and the burden is on Peter who knows she's going to die. The performances are fantastic and really live up to that "I don't want to go" moment from Tom in INFINITY WAR.

  • The reveal of Andrew through a portal, his frame and giant Spider-Man eyes instantly recognizable.

  • Basically everything with the three Peters, but in no particular order:

  • Tobey and Andrew meeting Tom, telling their stories. Tom has just lost May. Andrew tells the story of Gwen. Tom saying "With great power..." and Tobey finishing "...comes great responsibility" a

AITA, for ignoring my best friend wishes and happiness and potentially invalidating her feelings?

To start off I have two best friends, best friend one who we will call Beth whom I’ve known for 5-6 years, and the. Best friend 2 who we will call Jane whom I’ve known for 4 years. I started liking a friend within me and Jane’s friend group August 2021, we will call him Jake. I obviously didn’t see a problem with this but Jane did. Before shit hit the fan I hung out with Jane every other week and text her in a group chat setting almost every day, she would here and there make jokes about us being a couple here and there but while she was doing so in a joking manner I would shut it down pretty quickly. I absolutely love Jane and Beth as my best friends and treat them like family so it was weird when she made these types of comments but I just brushed it off as a joke of how close were are. Two weeks ago I told Jane and Beth how I felt about Jake, Beth was overwhelmingly happy for me since I don’t tend to have romantic feelings for people easily and to be honest she’s a hopeless romantic. Jane on the other hand was visibly upset. I waited until I was with Jane alone in a car to talk to her about her reaction. When I confronted her she bursted out crying and so we sat there in the driveway to talk about it. She told me that she didn’t like Jake in a romantic way she said he was a great friend and told me I shouldn’t confess my feelings because I could possibly ruin the friendship and she didn’t want that for me. She completely advised against me telling him saying that he would reject me and make things awkward. I dropped her off at her house and went home. I thought about the situation and came up with telling him anyways so he would reject me and I would move on. Within minutes he texted back and texted me directly that he’s liked me too for a longer time I’ve liked him. We quickly started dating soon after and I told him how Jane initially reacted on me even liking him much less dating him, I was half expecting for Jake to tell me off or something but instead he told me he understands Jane is my best friend and almost like a sister to me. He holds no grudge towards Jane and doesn’t mind when I call her or spend time with her. I told Jane because I couldn’t hide or lie to her and she had a full on breakdown I felt so bad. She reiterated that she advised me against everything I had done and told me I had ignored her feelings. She told me that she liked me for 4-3 years and she was waiting for me. I don’t exactly understand why I decided to lash out in this

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Saying that people who don't believe or are not convinced God exists are choosing to separate themselves from him is like saying "Jane chose to divorce Bill" when Jane had no idea Bill even existed, no idea that she was married to Bill, and wasn't even sure that marriage was even a real thing.

The analogy isn't perfect because she at least presumably knows that men exist in general. You could also use the analogy for someone who believes in a different God, by saying that would be like if Jane was already married to some other person and you told her that by marrying this other person, let's say Mike, that she was rejecting or choosing to separate from Bill, when in reality she had never even met Bill and was totally unaware of his existence.

MJ proved to be the most loyal, supportive, patient girlfriend Peter’s ever had in a live action Spider-Man movie.
  • She had a crush on him since homecoming, before he even noticed her, which is why she was so observant of him.

  • She wasn’t the jealous type of girl even though peter had a crush on Liz which is healthy. She only teased him to get his attention to avoid looking vulnerable or weak.

  • She defended him from flash Thomson when he bullied him in the plane making it clear that only she gets to tease Peter because she doesn’t mean it, but no one else is allowed to, not in her presence.

  • She protected his secret or his suspicious activity from Brad Davis in London calling him out on the fact that he admits taking pictures of people in the bathroom.

  • She got along great with Aunt May, and i’m sure May would not want Peter, to distance herself from her.

  • She kept his secret, and she refused to tell anything in the interrogation room despite the threats of the police to imprison her and ruining her future (like in the comics)

  • She wasn’t a scared damsel in distress and always was ready to fight with peter with what little she had.

  • Like Mary Jane in the comics, she was always there for him when he needed her most after May died and when the entire world was against him specially after to JJ Jameson blamed him for all the suffering and destruction he provokes wherever he is.

  • She proudly said she wouldn’t change a thing she’s done despite being rejected by her dream college,… (The Raimi’s MaryJane would have blamed him for being rejected at college and would have probably cheated on him, and Gwen made it it clear her priority was going to college in the UK and leaving Peter behind.)

  • She risked her life trying to help Peter and despite getting physically hurt on the process, she still kept the pain from peter because she didn’t want him to feel guilty.

  • And she showed how much she cares about Peter doing something she has never done, crying! A girl who (like mary jane in the comics) was always with the facade that she was too cool to care, acting very aloof, and like nothing could break her, cried because, despite all the danger, she didn’t wanna lose him, she didn’t wanna forget him.

Talk about character development in the trilogy! From β€œyou guys are losers, and what are you hiding peter? Kidding i don’t care, bye” to β€œLook how much i actually care about you that i cry when i literally cry for no one”. From being negative and pessimistic, to being optimistic that she will get her memories back even if Peter doesn’t tell her the truth.

Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"

Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"

Dropped my best ever dad joke & no one was around to hear it

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies πŸ˜‚

Deadpool 3 should be Deadpool Kills The Multiverse

With all the multiverse events happening in the MCU right now, Deadpool should jump on the bandwagon with a mercenary contract to kill the heroes of the non-canon timelines. Characters like Nic Cage's Ghost Rider, Ben Affleck's Daredevil, Thomas Jane's Punisher, David Hasselhoff's Nick Fury, the creepy puppet Howard the Duck, and the original Fantastic Four. It would allow for the return of some of the weaker and whackier entries in the Marvel universe but it'll be in a way that keeps them separate from the main continuity and gives them a comedic sendoff. Plus it'll tie up the loose ends created by these various universes.

Alternatively, Deadpool could recruit his own multiverse Avengers but all he can find are the rejects from the pre-MCU Marvel movies. Then they can take on a larger threat together like Galactus as a cloud of smoke or a variant Deadpool or whatever. I'd mostly rather not see most of the pre-MCU characters in Multiverse of Madness with maybe a couple of X-Men exceptions. But I'd be absolutely okay with seeing these types of characters in a multiverse hopping Deadpool movie.

Is there anyone you'd add to Deadpool Kills the Multiverse? And who would issue the contract in the first place? The TVA? The real world writers and producers of the MCU? There are definitely a lot of possibilities and they could really take it in any direction. I just want to see Deadpool engage with the multiverse in some way. And of all the potential battles/team ups, I think Ghost Rider and Deadpool would be the most interesting to me. Even if it's just a cameo, I'd love to see him and Nic Cage interact onscreen.

The Alchemy Trip (TWQ speculation) (a trip, because its long)

The Speaker: The Light lives in all places, in all things. You can block it, even try to trap it, but the Light will find its way.
Elsie Bray: β€œLook within. Focus your power. Let it Grow”

Remember this as we journey forward. Its quite a rabbit hole. There is a TL;DR at the end. The Light and the Dark are in everything.

I believe that Alchemy exists in Destiny. I believe it to be a theme and process that hasnt yet been seen in game directly. But I also believe all the pieces are in place for it to exist proper. I therefore postulate it will answer a lot of what we are about to see. I also believe that Bungie have given us answers to many of their questions, they just hide them really really well. I think what they do is give us an answer that's not in the direction of the direct answer, but somehow someway relates to the answer if you look at it in the right way.

Initially, I was perplexed by Cocytus and the Cocytus Gate. It was a rather fascinating set of circumstances and observations about the 'visitors' coming through the gate. The "what" makes an interesting read, and we know the connection to the Nine being behind the gate so we know they "Why" (trying to become lifeforms in the metaphysical world to end their dependence on humanity for existence as consciousnesses of/in dark matter).

I'm more concerned with the "How". The Hive have something to do with this. The crew of the Dead Orbit ship that found Cocytus were 'driven to something that stinks of Hive Madness'. There are instruments build around the Golden age facility called Cocytus, so if we put two and two together, it might be the Hive studying the gates. Interesting that it wasn't confirmed in the lore, when it should have been easy to confirm it was the Hive. Why in the hell couldn't they confirm it?

Coincidence I'm sure.

We technically don't have an answer, but alchemy isn't a far stretch (if anyone has seen Full Metal Alchemist anyway!). The Nine found a way to try to make a physical body to take them from their dark matter realm to our realm, and were learning along the way. They stopped dead for some reason, and it would want to be a good one because this something they really want! So the Hive were studying our study or doing
