How important is using a real-time operating system for high-level control?

I am in the process of prototyping a wheeled mobile robot. The robot already has 4 motors with their high performance low-level PID controller. However, for the high-level control of the trajectory I am going to use Robot Operating System to communicate with the motors and get feedback. I might either use simple PID controller or a nonlinear controller such as feedback linearization. A PC is directly connected to the robot and the motors, the highlevel controller will be implemented on this PC. No realtime operating system will be used, will that cause any issues? If yes, then how can I reduce the effects of not using a realtime os?

Side question: have anyone used ROS for control? What is your experience?

A reminder when using Poke Genie, the host has no control over a lobby and cannot add or boot players who don't know how the system works. Please take time to learn before joining raids.

I say this after I tried to host an Azelf raid and proceeded to have 2 of the people who joined the lobby click "Ready" and then never send me a friend request. Hosts do not have the power to add you, nor do they even have a clue what your information is besides your in game name. YOU must be the one to send the friend request and by clicking Ready, you've locked the lobby from being able to properly fill up. Many players will not do raids unless everyone from the Poke Genie lobby joins, so even a single individual not following the instructions can cause the whole lobby to have to disband.

So please just take the couple of minutes to learn how it works before trying to join anything. Join the queue, find a lobby, send friend request, click ready, wait for invitation.

How to implement closed-loop control systems in real life?

I graduated in Mechanical Engineering last year and we did a course called "Fundamentals of Control systems".

In that course, we learnt how to do Open-loop bode plots and closed-loop bode plots in Simul C. We also learnt how to make control systems stable and to change their bandwidth. Here's a final project that we did. [IMG-2413.png](https://postimg.cc/7GGvX3V5)

I am currently designing a water bath that needs to use a closed-loop control system to keep the temperature at 37C. What would be my first step? How do I even get the differential equations with time to build the system on paper?

What is a comparator? Is it an Opamp? How do I make a gain?

Apologies for the vagueness, I don't know enough to ask a specific question.

What book would contain this kind of information? (i.e. not just optimising a control system, but actually building it using physical components)

Real time control of a physical system using ML

Hi everybody, I'm a physicist with some basic background on machine learning. I have a problem which I think could be easily solved using a ML/neural network approach, considering the results that I see every day with such tools. The problem is the following: I have a physical system that I keep in a optimal state by adjusting two values. The state of my physical system is characterised by a number (a score), which has to be as high as possible. It is an optimization problem, but it is dynimical, the optimal values of the two parameters change over time, in a non-trivial and unpredictable manner, but on slow time scales (say tens of seconds). I can simulate the behaviour of the system via software. When optimizing the system manually, it is useful to look at the recent history (last tens of seconds) of values (both the score and the two parameters), to see where the system is 'going'.

I was therefore thinking to train a neural network with the simulator, but I don't know how to make it take into account the recent history of parameters. Moreover, the change in parameters is not instantaneous, but takes some time (seconds, depending on the change required) Could you direct me to relevant works / tutorials on the subject?

FYI: I'm trying to keep the system in resonance with two frequencies, while the system is randomly subject to slow and small environmental changes.

Were the last two years of COVID hysteria designed to frighten society into taking what they think is an antidote, but in reality will slowly destroy their immune systems, just in time for the real bio-weapon?

TheCOVID virus is about a 1-2 in terms of the severity of this β€œpandemic”, but the media and government responses have been a fucking 100 lmao. They’ve been treating this like the literal end of society as we know it since March of 2020.

This got me thinking, what if they needed the propaganda to scare the fuck out of people, so they would all go run to get the shot?

β€œWow, the government is taking some extreme measures and the media is telling me it’s the end of the world, this must be serious. I better do what they say!”

I’m just saying it’s the perfect strategy if you wanna take out 100-million+ people without firing a single bullet. Use a bullshit meme-virus to trick everyone into taking poison that will then allow you to murder them with a big boy virus.
