as someone from Ireland, I'm curious how many counties other people know other than cork and dublin.

✅ Mediocre at soccer (currently)
✅ Both are governed by a coalition formed by the main two parties that in theory hate each other but in practice are more or less the same
✅ Millions of people left their countries in search for a better place to live
✅ Moldova and Northern Ireland were part of the Romania / Ireland and many still hope they will be again reunited in the foreseeable future
✅ Less than 2% of both countries population speak Gaelic on a daily basis

Holland, where you can do many naughty things legally, now has a 5pm curfew on bars, restaurants, cinemas and more. And supermarkets must close at 8pm
Even leaving Austria out of this (because, let’s be honest, they’re going too far) - Ireland isn’t an outlier with new Omicron restrictions or business curfews
The reason why everyone is - justifiably - losing their marbles over today is:
Unlike almost all of the rest of Europe: We were never given any relaxed restrictions in the Summer
And that is why this feels so fucking relentless
But - unpopular opinion - it isn’t just Ireland who are hitting the panic switch with this
Many other countries are seeing something in the December and January projections that have them very frazzled
And on that note, I think I’ll order my first drink delivery in months
This craic is mentally fucking exhausting
I’m too young to properly remember the nuance of why they are never a proper player, I just remember that the last time they weren’t in government that it didn’t work well.

I’m not sure if I’ll have kids, I don’t know if I’d be a good enough parent or if it’s even responsible for me to have children incase I’m incapable of meeting my responsibilities (but that’s a whole other tangent, I’ll leave it there).
But, one of the key factors is finances. I will only bring life into this world if I can provide a better/more comfortable upbringing than I received.
But with the state of the country lately, it’s another factor that I’m considering about whether to be a parent. Quite bluntly, if I can’t give my potential child a better life/upbringing than I had, I won’t be having children.
