(spoiler alert)
The protagonist, Malcolm suffers from nightmares consisting of memory pieces. His father is a serial killer. Malcolm wants to know what was going on when he was a little kid. Grown-up Malcolm goes back to see his dad in the cage (actually it's more like a psychiatric facility for criminals) to find the truth. He confronts his dad about the truth, but he evades a definite answer.
I've suffered from CPTSD for years. Pieces of my repressed memories started to come to the surface in my early 30's.
According to the pieces, my dad pushed me down and gave me cunnilingus when I was like three years old, and he constantly sexually assaulted me while I was asleep until I became a high teen.
My dad is not in a cage like the murderer dad in the TV series, because his sexual assaults can't be proved (I don't have enough evidence) and it happened too long ago (the statute of limitations).
Part of me wants to know what really happened and seeks the truth. And only my dad knows the truth. Part of me is too scared to know the truth.
I am in a vulnerable shaky place. I know he sexually assaulted me, but sometimes I doubt it because our society always demands objective truths, and subjective truths tend to be dismissed.
βEsther is not remembered today for power or defiance,β Pastor Gordon is finishing as he lays a hand on Marie's left shoulder. βEsther is remembered as a Godly Woman for her humility and submission to God's will. Sister Marie is demonstrating that very love and faith today. Can you see it? Say, amen, if you can see it.β
βAmen!β The congregation repeats jubilantly. Their voices echoing across the sunny, green field they have gathered in.
βYou are an example of God's mercy, love, and patience potentially flowing through the heart of every woman.β Pastor Gordon praises.
Marie smiles at her childhood pastor and nods. She makes the mistake of momentarily looking out at the large congregation. Practically, all of the old town is here. It was always a very religious community.
βNow, I love you all like my own,β Pastor Gordon begins more jovially. βBut I think Marie here clearly demonstrates some of you wives out there complain a little too easily about your poor husbands.β
There is amused laughter, with some men in the congregation, clapping in comedic exaggeration. It kills Marie to hear it, but her smile never leaves.
βThat's my Lil Mary-Lamb,β Her mother begins proudly from the left. βI knew you would come around to doing the right thing. That's why you're here. You have always been so good.β
Marie smiles at her mother and nods.
βYou remind me a lot of your grandmother, kiddo.β Her father beams next to his wife. βMy mother always put everyone else first too. You have her heart.β
Marie smiles at her father and nods.
βWe all make mistakes, dear.β Her husband's mother reminds her from the right. She does not bother to look over at Marie. βI hope you have grown enough to maybe question what part you played in it all, as there are always two sides to a story.β
Marie somehow maintains her smile and nods.
βHe was just a stupid kid that didn't know better. Boys love differently than girls, and sometimes it makes them crazy. But I know he loves you, Marie.β Her husband's father explains near his wife.
Jacob arrives at the end of the field. He looks older but it is definitely him. Everyone moves to greet him. She listens as they praise God for returning him to the fold and congratulate him on finding the Lord in prison.
βBut there is one more miracle we are here to witness.β Pastor Gordon announces.
The dread moment arrives.
βWe are going to witness the power of forgiveness.β He motions to Marie.

Why do you think Maiden stopped making great power ballads after these two songs? A desire to harden his style? I never got an answer. There was Journeyman in 2003, i love it, but that's it. Why ? Do you like these songs ?
How TF did the dad in the story see evidence of repentance? He was βa long way offβ and ran to meet him. This story teaches unconditional love, the opposite of what WT uses it for in this weekβs lesson.

About the title, for a while now, I've thought that G created Q somehow and he's been an unwilling pawn in G's schemes for decades rather than them being the same person. I had the idea of them having a fantastic final battle and Quasimodox delivered better than the image I had in my head! Enjoy!
I don't mind what ships might be involved, or if it's gen, but does anyone have any particular recommendations?
I need something, anything, after that ending.
Of course I'm now hoping that the shopping around continues, but I'm happy to read some fanfic (though would be even happier if someone picked it up).
If you take a look at the Ogre roster for TWWIII, you may notice that there are no Bruisers, no Yhetees, no Thundertusks and no Regiments of Renown. Thatβs basically a smoking gun that the Ogres will receive at least one DLC with those missing units. The question now is, who will be the headlining lord?
Ghark Ironskin is a possibility, but all the units heβs associated with are in the game, so heβs more likely as an FLC lord alongside the Chaos Dwarfs due to his close ties with them.
Golgfag Maneater is another possibility, but heβs more known as a mercenary for hire than a beast master. I wouldnβt be surprised if he became a hero, or even a Gotrek style temporary lord who could be used by a whole bunch of factions.
Bragg the Gutsman cannot lead a tribe and, unlike Sniktch, doesnβt have a clan of assassins to back him up, making him a hero at best.
There is one character who reflects beasts and the winter cold, and that would beβ¦ Jhared the Red! Yes, despite the rather pedestrian name, he was a character introduced in the original Ogre kingdoms book, but I donβt believe he ever got his own official stats, even in White Dwarf.
The story goes that he was born covered in red hair as the runt of the litter to one Huhgr Loudgut (itβs unknown whether he was the tyrant or not), who promptly tossed him out into the snow in disgust. After a gruelling first few hours of life, the little tyke eventually stumbled across a nursing sabretusk, who promptly adopted him as one of her own cubs.
After coming of age and becoming dominant male by throwing the previous one off a cliff, he and his pack became silent and rarely seen legends. He eventually returned to his tribe (presumably unknowingly as he was barely born before he was thrown away) with his pack of sabretusks, blocked the entrance and killed everyone inside in the dark. He even decided to end his fathers life after toying with him like a cat with itβs prey and unwittingly taking his revenge on the one who disposed of him.
Ogre whelps are told the story to learn not to judge others for their differences, and he is regarded as the first Ogre to tame wild beasts in the Mountains of Mourn, revered by Ogre Hunters as the first of their kind. While these stories tend to be exaggerated due to lack of writing, there are elements of truth in there. And considering there is no evidence of an Ogre dying of old age, he could still be out there, stalking the mountains with his pack of monsters to this very day.
