In Ancient Rome, there were 4 types of poison.
Poisons I, II, and III would all kill you with varying degrees of pain.
However, Poison IV would just make you really itchy.

I'm kinda bummed we never got an AC game set in ancient Rome.
We had Rome during the Renaissance(brotherhood) and stuff involving the ancient Romans(Origins), but never a game actually set in Rome/the ancient Roman empire, and it bums me out. I'd have loved going around Rome when it was at its full glory to see all the amazing architecture when it was still pristine.
Edit: apparently gaming Bible wrote an article about my post lol here

In 2010 series 'Spartacus', in a scene where Spartacus fights as a gladiator while the crowd is dancing and acclaiming him, some women are shown topless. Was it common for women in Ancient Rome to be publicly topless? Otherwise, when and why was Ancient Rome so erotized in the social imaginary?

Ancient Rome Enthusiasts, how did you became an expert in Ancient Romeβs history?
What made you the Ancient Rome historians that you are today? Where did you guys get your knowledge from? Did all of your knowledge came from the internet? Weβre you fully self taught? Or did the guidance of a teacher enlightened you with the rich history of Ancient Rome, because the history of a great nation such as Rome is deep, really really deep, I honestly believe that one could not fully dive deep into the depths of Romes history without having the guidance of an expert or a historian to accompany them, all of Ancient Rome from their culture, to their politics, their military history/tactics, their philosophy, their technology, and their society is all too much for one to understand by themselves, can you really learn all about Ancient Rome by going on the internet? Because ancient politics, philosophy and military history isnβt exactly easy to self teach yourself with

TIL That women also competed as gladiators in ancient Rome and there is a marble relief dating to around the 2nd century A.D. depicting a bout between two women dubbed βAmazonβ and βAchillia,β whom the inscription says fought to an honorable draw.

I am looking for a TTRPG set during the time of the time Roman Republic. To iterate I am NOT looking for a group. Just a system. So does anyone know any good ones?

Books set in Ancient Rome or Greece?
Looking for Ancient Rome/Greece setting but not necessarily about politics or war. More so an adventure of an ordinary person? Perhaps even a bit of a fantasy vibe.
Edit: Thank you so much everyone! Gonna go on a book hunt tomorrow with your suggestions.

The Spintria, the 'currency of sex' in ancient Rome, the "spintriae monedas romanas" was used as payment in brothel's, in theory it was forbidden to use coins with the emperor's effigy in these places, hence the use of the spintriae.

Teaching ancient rome in a very short period of time
Hi folks!
I'm about to start my first teaching practicum, and one of my classes is social studies 7 (specifically my mentor wants me to teach a unit on ancient Rome).
I know Rome was not built in a day, but I only have nine 40 minute blocks to teach it... My rough plan at the moment was to have the first six blocks each touch on a key aspect of ancient Rome, and leave the remaining three for the kids to create and show off a presentation based on the day of the previous six that interested them most, but showing how it connects to contemporary society.
My question for you folks is what would you focus on for those six lessons? What CANNOT be left out even with such limited time?
I have a baseline knowledge of Rome, and know I will want to touch on the idea of a republic, potentially architecture, likely war and weaponry since the kids will surely be interested in that, but I am not a historian by trade and this is a bit out of my wheelhouse so any suggestions would be amazing!
Thanks in advance!

Any good starting points for someone who wants to learn all about Ancient Romeβs history ?
Ancient Rome always fascinated me when I was in elementary school, I would always look forward to history class all the time since what they taught us about Ancient Rome was just so interesting, what stuck with me the most was definitely the Roman military and how they created the famous turtle formation or the "testudo formation" from what Google says, another thing that I also deeply remembered was the tale of romulus and remus. I never got the chance to fully study Ancient Rome but now with summer break coming along the way, I think I might have some time to devote to studying Ancient Rome history, I want to learn all about Ancient Rome, from the culture, to the gods, the mythical tales, the history of the Roman Empire, the military, and a bunch of well documented biographies of important figures from Ancient Rome, I just want to understand Rome man. So what is a good starting point ? You guys got any websites ? Or books ? Books are a difficult to get tho, I used to live in the United states but Iβm currently staying at another region for the time being, it might be hard to get Amazon to ship over here
