A list of puns related to "Prevenge"
I've marked it as a hidden gem cause I absolutely loved it, but would not have found it if it wasn't for Shudder.
The hilarious interactions with her victims, the grumpy sickly voice of the 'baby' and the determination of her GP not to listen to anything she actually says, all made it a very unique and enjoyable watch for me. Ruth was also a really likeable character.
Also, I think she did Dan's mum a favour by offing him.
What were everyone else's thoughts?
A pregnant woman goes on a murdering spree on the people involved in her unborn child's father's climbing death.
It's a British dark comedy about a baby that takes over a woman's body. There is some really outstanding mood setting sequences that either get the audience to think or to feel uneasy. Wonderful cinematography, great plot and very well done explicit and bloody scenes . Alice Lowe(the main character) does a great job of a being an expectant mother and is pretty good at being creepy and threatening
Highly recommended..!

Noun. Revenge taken in anticipation of a future action against oneself or their allegiance.
Ex. Timmy took prevenge on the new kid who would surely have made fun of him along with everyone else by tripping him in the cafeteria
So Today I watched Prevenge Again for the second time and I am completely blown away By it's background sound effects/music, it's so good . Really one of the best. What are other movies with very effective Background Music??
Overall the movie is also quite Good if you haven't watched yet do watch it.
Review
The Alice Lowe, written/directed slasher about a mother obsessed with an evil voice that she believes emanates from her unborn baby, that urges her to go on a murder spree against those deemed responsible for her husbands death in a mountaineering accident.
I wasn't such a fan of this one. It felt like the kind of film that is popularly produced in London (UK) where it's perspective is entirely nihilistic and misanthropic. So for example, absolutely every character... main, supporting or background acts like a dick. The hero acts like a dick. Ie. nobody is likeable (as is the fashion for film-makers and a lot of TV narratives produced in London atm!)
The film is also supposed to be a black comedy... which manifests mostly from a type of weird improv / dialogue driven by squabbles between characters.
For example...
Character A "This cup of tea is better than perfect isn't it"
Character B "That really isn't possible though is it... perfect is perfect."
Character A folds arms. "Mathematically I suppose that's possible."
Character B "No... not just mathematically!"
Oh ho ho ho.
Now juxtapose that 'comedy' with long filler sequences filled with oddly chosen retro electro music (for a film that looks ostensibly modern, shot in a desaturated rainy day british colour palette more akin to Nordic Noir than anything.) The result being that it feels slow... tonally uneven, with at times amatuerish / improv style dialogue.
Each of the victims, has a peculiarly casual response to their imminent murders, again supposedly an aspect of this films black comedy. For example, one woman tries to fight off her knife armed attacker with boxing gloves?! Absurd and hilarious right? This sits unevenly with the films 'gritty' style and stylised world (of assholes.) To the point where you really have nobody or nothing to root for.
I love black comedy... especially British black comedy (League of Gentlemen being a favourite.) But this too cool for school metropolitan - utterly detached style of 'black comedy' too closely resembled dry bad drama imo.
There was stuff I did like however as well. Alice Lowe did a fine performance, and there were some striking 'banshee' elements to the films visual metaphors that we see on screen that are very effective. In particular these funky old film style, black and white segments (used with a similar effectiveness by The Babadook) to exude the characters state of mind.
But overall, to me Prevenge felt like a somewhat
