A list of puns related to "Peter Frampton discography"
I brought this up in a movie sub today and thought it would be interesting to hear y'all's views.
What a travesty of a film! It had a very negative impact on Frampton's and the Bee Gees' careers.
Somehow, someone decided to make a movie using "Sgt. Pepper" as the basis. I watched it again a few months ago, and I still can't figure out the "plot," as it were.
Released in 1978, it had all the earmarks for a blockbuster. "Sgt. Pepper" being one of the most well-known albums of all time, the Bee Gees at the height of their career coming from "Saturday Night Fever;" Frampton still grooving from "Comes Alive;" cameos by Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Steve Martin as he was beginning to gain notoriety with "Let's Get Small." And, oh yeah, George Burns, who was still "burning" bright from the "Oh God" films.
Still, an absolute mess!
The "covers" are, well, interesting. Aerosmith's "Come Together" got a lot of airplay but sucked balls; mind you, this was in their deepest depths of addiction as well, and Steven Tyler's "character" groping "Lovely Rita" or whoever didn't help. Alice Cooper's "Because" is a bad acid trip mixed in a deep fever dream. The less said about Steve Martin's "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," the better. Earth, Wind and Fire's "Got to Get You Into My Life" shines through, if only because of its context. Everything else is "meh" at best.
Frampton made for a relatively charismatic lead, the Bee Gees - like everyone else - were there for a paycheck. But at least Billy Preston made an unembarrassing appearance, so there's that.
I apologize for dredging up the memories of this dreadful cinematic pile of celluloid vomit, but maybe some of you would like to share your impressions of it. Is it in that "campy" space of "so-bad-it's-good?" or just really bad? Or do you think it's actually better than my obviously biased opinion?
I like 70s 80s 90s rock already and know that Frampton is the God of the talk box. But where in his discography do you think I should start?
EDIT: I am looking for suggestions getting that specific timbre.
