A list of puns related to "Patient zero"
And I'm not talking about the mediocre dialogue that is basically on par with a high school English class that is reading lines from a play, or the animatronic-like character movements when they speak. In the last couple of months, I believe posts in this sub even covered those. And those flaws did require some amount of acceptance before I could start enjoying myself in this game, especially on the heels of playing TLOU2 which does both of these things so flawlessly on the same-gen console.
What I'd like to talk about is the game's Resource Management system, which at best is just plain bad and at worst is completely cringe-worthy for a triple-A game. Whereas the acting and dialogue might have kept a good game from being great, the Resource Management system in Horizon Zero Dawn really impacts the play and fun-factor and after 75-hours in the game, I'm willing to say it is the WORST that I can ever recall seeing in any game. It's bad.
The idea of collecting items and junk through an Open World certainly isn't new, but what irks me about Horizon's resources is the frequency of collection. The game values quantity over quality, and as much as I love exploring Horizon's beautiful open world, my eyes spend less time on the scenery and more time on the ground as I find myself searching for Health herbs every 15 steps because the last one I grabbed only gave me a marginal amount of what I needed.
And that tends to be a central theme in Horizon. Rather than items being a "treasure" that you found to help you along your journey, resources are bountiful in the game but are borderline worthless. Trying to restore your health reserve in this game is like saving up for a new car by picking up nickles on the ground. There's no shortage of supply of them, but who wants to find and pick up 40 flowers before your health reserve is back to full after every enemy encounter. There are MUCH better ways of doing this, but ultimately, I would rather an item be slightly more difficult to find and have more value. Picking up nickles on the ground every 50 feet or so quickly detracts from the gameplay.
The Resource Management problem is further compounded by a very poor UI and Menu system which have so many problems that it needs to be bullet-pointed:
So I was playing Patient Zero and decided to kill Jeff's girlfriend you know the guy in the Hawaiian shirt. When I started playing the second mission I saw him by a note that basically says hes going to commit by jumping off a cliff if you knock him out he appears in the Vector trying (again) to commit suicide. Well if you stop him he appears in the final mission of Patient Zero with a note in one of the personal rooms with note saying how he has a guardian angel and stuff. It was actually kinda sad seeing him trying to kill himself because we killed his abusive girlfriend so he could join her.
So, imagine we have a pill that will make things immortal.
We already tested the process on all kinds of animals and now only human trials are left.
If you had the chance, would you be the first person for the pill to be tested on?
If not, would u do it if ya get paid? How much would you want?
i uhh...
uhh i destroyed the bed
wtf do i do

Hello guys, girls, enbies, and others! Due to events sadly coming up (my loss of freedom on my pc), I have to delay Twig's Survivor up until summer break starts for me (about 3 weeks from now), but I'll be able to continue that series when I'm back in control. Anyways, this will be a sort of test season for this sim, to see if The Totem Pole will work with FYM. This season will have 13 contestants and will use the season 2 template, just to have consistency if I were to make this into a series. I'm going to have this first season have more female spots than male spots, since that is accurate to the show (every season of irl TTP had more women than men). Now here are the rules for signing up:
No players from Twig's Survivor: This is so that I can have the seasons be on the same timeline as each other, because I want to do a Twig's Reality Incorporated showdown between the shows eventually
No non-human characters: no, I don't want I to be on the cast, nor any other inhuman characters
If you are submitting a non-binary character, specify whether they take up a female or male spot.
I will allow up to two submissions per submitter
I am now able to create FYMs again, so if you don't have a FYM, you can now describe it to me and I will make it
If submissions are not full by when I wake up on Saturday morning, I'm just gonna quote Alec Merlino from Survivor: David vs Goliath and just fill the rest of the cast with my own characters
This uses a different stat system than the Survivor or BB sims, so stats need to add up to 15 here
Have fun!
