info about Finite element CFD solvers?

Hello

Does anyone know any good sources of info about finite element CFD solvers? Until now I have only used finite volume solvers, but for my thesis project i need to use a FEM solver. The documentation I have for the software itself only describes the practical info of actually using it, no theory included. Basically anything talking about the theory behind how finite element solvers work, and how they differ from FVM solvers would be helpful.

Thank you!

Taking a class on the finite element method 5 years removed from undergraduate studies, how to not fail?

My company is paying for me to get a masters degree. I'm in the Aerospace industry and interested in structures, so I'm taking a "introduction to the finite element method of structures". I got the book in the mail and I'm kind of horrified after flipping through it. Partial differential equations, gradients, matrix math. I haven't done any of this since my junior year of college in 2016. Any tips to surviving after not having done anything this technical in a very long time?

My class and I are lost with the finite element method

Hi there, the only time we used FEM in our life was for a 1D application: A metal bar embedded at both ends, with a different temperature at both ends, an adiabatic case and an open case.

It was during containment, we never used it in 2D, and we didn't even fully understand it.

Problem: We are in our last year of mechanical engineering, we lost like 1.5 years of poor-quality studies and we need 2D FEM in python in many courses now.

Can you recommend to me any good books, websites or even youtube videos that'll explain this concept clearly? Thanks in advance.

Advanced Solids & Finite Element Methods

Hey everyone, so I'm taking my final tough courses which are Finite Element Methods with Dr. Barari and Advanced Solids with Dr. Rohrauer, anyone know if they curve the midterm for any of these? I did better than average on all midterms for these two courses, wonder how far that'll take me. Worried about Advanced Solids the most, pretty sure I've passed FEM, just wondering if it has a curve.

Waveform propagation finite element/difference scripts allowing for viscoelasticity

Hello there, I am looking for software or scripts for waveform propagation scripts or software (either finite element or finite differences) that allows for viscoelasticity (and, ideally, for anisotropy as well). Currently, I am testing SOFI2D, SOFI3D, and Comsol.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Finite Element Book recommendation ?

Hello everyone,

I am searching for books on finite elements analysis for engineers and I could use some help.

I am a Mechanical Engineer. As I am at the end of my PhD I have an offer to work as consultant in Belgium. During my PhD I have gained some experience on FEM in static, modal and vibration analysis of structures, but my concern is that I have only looked a targeted region of the field. Most of my knowledge is from my master thesis( modal analysis and little rotordynamic), journal papers and the manual of MSC Nastran ( which despite my first thoughts at the end it was really helpfull).

If the new job is as it was described, I am going to be involved a lot with structural FE analysis but it always depends on the client. So I am searching for some books that could give me some guidance.

I came across Practical Finite element analysis for mechanical engineers by Dominique Madier ( https://www.fea-academy.com/pdf/PFEA-Table-of-Contents.pdf ). Does anyone read this book ? Do you have any recommendations of other books I could look into it?

Thank you in advance for you time!
