A list of puns related to "PSI Seminars"
So a family member recently started going to this Personal Development thing called PSI Seminars, the first weekend long course is called the "Basic" which costs around $600. He went back as "staff" and says I really need to try it, it changed his life, he would even pay for me to go try it, etc. I saw red flags when he started using the lingo and talking about his "PSI family" and how he feels like his whole life is just falling into place now....almost manic vibes of how excited this makes him. Plus he met a woman there who sounds like she marked him at first sight and now theyre dating.... hes interested in going on to the next level of this thing which is like $3k so I looked it up and to my horror it appears to be a cult and MLM combined that has torn families apart as it encourages cutting from your life anyone who "stand in the way of your dreams", and buying things like a new car, or paying for their courses with borrowed money til youre in debt beacuse you have to believe in yourself, follow your dreams and "the universe will provide". Like if youre in it and your spouse doesnt suppport you spending shared money on this, you should hide the spending or leave them because theyre not supporting you and your goals. And you are supposed to bring in new members. It seems they use psychological tactics to illicit strong emotions in people to basically bind them to the message and the people. They dont "sell" anything except the illusion of having some secret to being the best version of yourself and "reaching your dreams" and stuff. You guys, I read so many heartbreaking reviews. Im terrified he will get sucked in and robbed of his money, and more importantly his self esteem. Right now, he thinks its the best thing thats ever happened to him. Help! Am I over reacting?
Can someone fill me in on exactly what happens at psi seminars? I'm getting pretty skeptical after reading reviews and seeing the word cult over and over. I have no interest in doing the later classes either. I just want to know what to expect
I am close with someone who started PSI Seminars just 2 months ago. I am seeing this snowball as they already went to basic 2x and now signed up for the next step, intensive days long training on "the ranch" I knew sharing customer reviews with them wouldbt be helpful, so I tried to share LGAT wikipedia page (which even mentions the PSI brand by name) and they refused to let "my negativity" in. I get this feeling of something very sinister about LGATs and Im worried about this person. I hate the idea of being manipulated!
Hey everyone,
Through the magic of google I found this reddit with an old post regarding PSI Seminars. I took a college course and later a university program. So I was doing a bit of life coaching with my degree and I had a friend from college that was interested in doing the same. I was really excited for her because she was talking about all these cool ideas on how she could help people, but she was a bit insecure about not being a ICF certified coach (I think international registration is total bullshit, and really coaching a way... it already seemed kind of culty but I was interested in the more holistic and active side of it as a sort of counseling intervention.. which went well with my degree.) So I went on and did my thing for a while, I connected with her and she told me she had joined this "PSI Seminars" and how great it was and I should join..
I am notoriously cheap, so there is no way I was going to pay someone my money to go to some bullshit feel-good thing, haha when I had my own version of that already. I have noticed if I am not interested the convo slowly tapers off. Well a later check-in revealed this PSI thing really encouraged her to start a small business, I sort of suspect they get like a tithe from it.. All her facebook posts when from regular her to these really polished photos where she was sort of uncomfortably smiling.
A mutual friend of ours also joined, and her facebook posts also changed.. I also noticed all the likes and comments weren't from any of our friends or their families but the cult itself. Like they were there to pump them up. Friend #1 had a comment about being excited to "move up the levels" as soon as she got enough money...
Friend #2 later had a facebook status "Never did I think I would be picking rice in a field." I didn't gather any additional context but it reminded me of that episode of King of the Hill with the Janes and the Jams & Jellies.
So just a few days ago I thought of a different person, Friend #3. Sent her a message on facebook and we had a bit of a chat. She lives away from her hometown and so do I, so I remarked how its sort of nice to be away from parents sometimes lol. Then she says "I have my PSI family." Right away I am like "oh no they got her too." And it made sense because her facebook posts also transformed into hyper-grinning glamour shots. I told her Friend #1 and 2 were already "into that." She got excited "Oh! Did you ever think of joining?" I told her "I don't do

Has anyone taken this class? I noticed itβs a seminar rather than lecture. Iβm at the end of my Junior standing for credits and I have yet to take a seminar.
Iβve heard mixed things about Sharpe - any feedback from the Reddit community?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
One of the books I sometimes have my clients look at is - Alexander Everett's book "Inward Bound".
Everett was the guy who basically trained Werner Erhart - Erhart was the guy who started "EST" (Erhart Training Seminars) which was the foundation and became Landmark Education. Landmark is the program that a large percentage of Silicon Valley executives and many other high and mid level management executives take around the world (plus millions of other people). Everett also trained the guys who started Lifespring, PSI Seminars, Mindspring and others. . .The leaders of these other programs basically took over Everett's company at one point and spun it off into their own enterprises which became quite well known in their own right.
The interesting thing in Everett's book he says - that those types of "ra ra" big hype seminars. . .stuff like the big Tony Robbins, Harv Eker, PSI, Landmark "type" of events only really made a big difference for about 5-7% of the people who ever attend them. . .remember. . .this is coming from a person who trained some of the biggest names in the personal development movement in the 70s and 80s. . .and these programs became the model for so so much of personal development programs even to this day . . .which are basically "regurgitated", "re-marketed", and "repackaged" programs saying variations on the same thing.
Everett also hypothesized for the people who did get results that that was probably going to be on their path in life to achieve results regardless of what they did. . . This is not to say that people don't get value from them. . .it's just not what people think.
When people attend these seminars (and to a lesser extent - read personal development books), they get a "high" in the energy . . .but the "high" doesn't last and the overwhelming vast majority go right back to old habits. Just think about the last course or book you read . . .was there much profound change in your life afterwards??? I can say this because I've probably spent over $100k on seminars, books, courses over the years - and I'm not saying that I didn't find these valuable or worthwhile to do. If someone thinks they get value from them or has a sense to go do them - I say "go do it". . .and there's nothing wrong with doing them.
The reality is that most have a "sense" of what there is to do to produce results. . .they just don't do it or don't follow their "hunch" or "sense" because it might look too confronting to do.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
