A list of puns related to "Origin Unknown"
https://imgur.com/a/zBBIAPj
Found in a box of souvenir clams at an outdoor market. God knows how old/place of origin and it looks mildly damaged. I flipped through some field guides, and guessing Queen Conch? I know they've been hunted and exported for decades but the sheer size is astounding. At least 8 inches tip to tip and is almost too heavy for one hand. I figure its on the same level as dried seahorses or starfish, but maybe a little more uncommon? I got it for $8.
P.S. If anybody can confirm an ID on the species or explain that weird hole on the top I'd be happy too :-)
The Dark Tower series are a really good example of the type of thing I'm looking for.
Some brilliant suggestions here - nice one.
51F, 5β9, very thin, getting thinner fast, white, USA. non-smoker, non-drinker; no prescriptions. On supplemental oxygen for chronic respiratory failure - hypoxia. Undergoing workup to figure out whatβs wrong but itβs taking taking forever. (This is for my mom.) (x-post)
Very long story short: formerly vibrantly healthy momβs been deteriorating since January. Sheβs lost over 25lbs since then, has been having daily oxygen desaturations down to as low as 80 whenever she started walking for months and is now on supplemental oxygen. Exhaustive pulmonary testing (including RHC and shunt studies) and cardiac testing (echo with bubble study) all inexplicably normal. The doctors are puzzled, as you can imagine. She looks awful. She does have a few "good" hours in the morning, but it slowly diminished til afternoons she crashed. As of now, "good" morning hours aren't lasting as long and she's crashing earlier in the day when she hits a wall, becomes totally sapped of energy, becomes very weak.
At first her oxygen only went down when she was up and about and moving, down as low as 80, thatβs when she got the order for supplemental oxygen. But past 3 days, it's going down much more often, even at rest. (But it IS intermittent, not constant.)
Hereβs why Iβm here today seeking advice: What would be a scenario that would mean we should take her to the ER? As of the past 3 days sheβs feeling worse, now has oxygen desats at rest, and it also is dipping down more and more often than ever before, and something very new - her heart rate keeps dipping a few times a day down into the 50s and occasional 40s (not necessarily when her oxygen is low - sometimes yes thatβs the case, sometimes when sheβs on oxygen it happens too. In the past few evenings sheβs been having severe shortness of breath even when her oxygen is at 100. Although sheβs been ill for months w/no answers yet, these worsening signs and symptoms have only been happening for about 3 days.
Blessed to live in a city with a nationally known excellent medical center. The head of one of the lung hospital lung centers sheβs been seeing wants her to come back in to see him again for further investigation since the last study (shunt) was normal and they still donβt know whatβs wrong (what the hell else can they test for???), but that conversation with him was last Thursday, before things suddenly got even worse on Friday til now - and who knows when that appt will happen. He's in high demand of course.

Does anyone know the origin of the "well-loved candles" and "Eclectic Simsmopolitan Light"? They don't appear to be on the WIKI page under ECO Workshop.
Update: Found the packs! Thanks jafulinnn jhea_belle

Starforged: Tabula Rasa Episode 1 (A Foreign Body of Unknown Origin) is the first episode of an audio drama by Redstone Archender (me!)
A short, serialized, sci-fi podcast
A man wakes up alone on a ship. Except for an alien creature that's embedded itself in his neck and brain. Oh, and this glowcat... who seems to be captain of the ship?

Basically, I record myself playing Starforged, but edit out all the boring bits including the rolling/moves/etc. You get the story and nothing but the story.
It's my first attempt at anything like this. It's totally an experiment.
I found this very old coin whilst exploring Derbyshire. I have little idea where this coin originated and was used. I'm very new to this. But I'd love some help with identifying it!
It has an unmistakable large 'M' on one side of the coin, and a degraded picture of what appears to be a man on the other - possibly with Latin numerals surrounding the coin - there's lots of degradation all over. My first thought was of the God Mirthas, of Zoroastrian origin, with popularity amongst the Imperial Roman Army from the 1st century to the 4th century BC. I've since been advised this is a Byzantine mint, which seems more reasonable to me and my first guess. There is a distinctive green around some of the coin which suggests to me copper/copper alloy used in the minting - but again I'm no expert... The coin is roughly slightly larger than a modern 2p coin, Pound Sterling in diameter. Currently unknown weight.
If I'm correct, this coin is potentially up to 2000 years old? Though I could be very much mistaken, I'd love to know something more about it's origins either way. I'd love it if I can get some help from the community here, identifying this coin and era, and ideally the Ruler on the coin too - and what, if anything, I should do with it!
Many thanks!

This Ruler/Emperor I'd specifically like to know the name of!
For example characters such as Tintin, Rambo, El Mariachi (Mexican Trilogy) and several other established Characters who don't origins or backgrounds.
Let's use Tintin as in example. He's got no family or relatives at all and we're all okay with it. Not complaining about it.
But do some characters work without background or origins. Perhaps some things off left unexplained or learnt.
So for writing original characters it's better felt unknown or bother coming with one. Unless it's not important to the story?
