Does anybody know where Kool & The Gang's first album was recorded? What studio and mixing board was used?
So I've really been interested lately in Kool & the Gang. On CD, I own Emergency and Something Special. I know that my local music store has Forever, so I plan to pick that up as well. But where do I go from there? Are the studio albums essential?
These guys have been around for a minute but are new to me. The thing I love about this genre is its onion-like quality that never stops being peeled back to reveal amazing band after amazing band.

I just noticed that many songs I liked (Hollywood Swinging, Get Down On It, Celebration, Jungle Boogie) are all by Kool & the Gang, but I also saw they got 22 albums. Can you recommend some of their best ones? Maybe some that got many classics?
I'm trying to retrace their steps as a method to learn how to use Ableton and when trying to sample that song, the section seems to have too much trumpet and no guitar solo. Is there another version of the song or am I just missing the correct section?
