A list of puns related to "Ode on Melancholy"
Hi, everyone! I came to this subreddit because Keats made me so desperate, but already I know I will be spending a lot of time here.
Before I ask my question, I should explain: I am Italian, I've been studying English all my life and now I am getting a Master's degree in languages and publishing; Keats is the focus of our English literature exam. Apparently none of the existing translations are correct, so we were asked to translate a selection of his poems on our own.
We will be comparing some of our versions in class seeing as it's such complex work, but one line especially is driving me crazy. I'm referring to line 9 in the Ode on Melancholy: "For shade to shade will come too drowsily".
We've been discussing it for a while and even our lecturer has a hard time understanding what this "shade to shade" means. I have read a number of detailed analyses online, but each and every one of them will skip this line.
Here is the full text. I would love to hear some of your opinions, and thank you VERY much in advance!
I can't believe it but I've just secured a My Dear Melancholy Vinyl years after release from a legit record shops online store in the UK...
What the heck did you just fudging say about me, you little chime? Iβll have you know I readed the top of my class in the Bardian class, and Iβve been involved in numerous top lane ganks, and I have over 300 confirmedΒ teemo kills. I am trained in chime collecting and Iβm the top bard in the entire runeterra. You are nothing to me but another free gank. I will wipe you the heck out with a stun that has never been seen before on this Rift, mark my fricking words. You think you can get away with saying that stuff to me over in Lathyrus's chat? Think again, fricker. As we speak I am contacting Polypuff across the Pacific Ocean and you're being traced right now so you better prepare to forfeit your meeps. I will wipe you out and humiliate you. Youβre fricking dead, kid. I can be in any Bard E, anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over a million billion ways, and thatβs just with Bard's gun. Not only am I trained in Bardjitsu and meep throwing, but I have access to every single bard skin in game (even the unreleased ones) and I will use them to wipe your miserable meep legs off the face of the world, you little toxic Draven main. If only you could have known what your little stupid bard comment was about to bring you, maybe you would have fricking shushed. But you couldnβt, you didnβt, and now youβre paying the price, you goshdang Yuumi supporter. I will put meeps all over you and you will drown in it. Youβre fricking dead, kiddo.
An Ode to the Gutterβa love letter from JL Dobbins:
If itβs hustle-bustle, off the top rope turn-buckle madness you seek, Colfax is where youβll find it. Soulfax β forever about that action. 24/7, 365, hand-over-fist action. A dish served however the fuck you want it: intravenously; foil; glass rose; crack pipe? No matter, youβll find your fix. Now the worldβs handiest man, who knew capability was just a hit away?
A scene so vivid you can almost taste it. At least I could. Well, maybe it was the pungent aura of 100 homeless wanderers congregating within their relegated territory, where personal hygiene took a back seat after life became so heavy.
Not where I normally cop, but at 4:00 AM last Thursday the block saved my ass. I owe her for that. I owe her this.
A microcosm of a city, where addict to hustler is distinguished by luck, 3 square feet of grass, and the next tent. Smack dab in the middle of Denver, a village of downtrodden dwellers wait for seekers and promise. I parked my car down (street) and stepped out, hoping scenes hadnβt much changed since my last visit three years ago.
I cross the boulevard and pass the first tent. To my right and adjacent to the sidewalk is a ledge for sitting, among other things. I plop down next to a Native American looking fella ripping his crack pipe.
βYou like black too or what?β
Two eyelids lifted slowly, like garage doors revealing bloodtint retinas gazing far beyond my soul and I, our glances meeting for a fleeting second before doors again lower, his pinned brown marbles now staring into the ground.
βHard and clear, hard and clear.β
βRight on, man, well look... If ya know anybody that can help me Iβll buy you a nickel, letβs go to one of these boys that has black and clear or black and hard.β
And thatβs when I heard a voice come from literally the next guy down the sidewalk, standing up near his tent with a blanket draped over his shoulders.
βI got bothβwhat you need?β
βSome black, and, ugh, lemme get a nickel of the other.β
I was desperate and didnβt need the tweaked out shadow spotter following my exit.
βCome on, man, Iβll get you that little chunk.β
A heavy-set black man greeted me with a kind smile. His introduction was passive and trusting and he spoke with purposeful accommodation.
βBoy, you need this shit, huh, over here trembling n shit. Come to this tent anytime and if Iβm sleeping yell βMiami, wake up Iβm sick!β Iβll help you anytime.β
Okay. Guess I found a contingency pla

Hello there,
Unlike most of you, I am not an avid MMO player - and maybe I never was, but I still loved MMOs very much.
My most active period was during vanilla WoW, as I was around 14 years old. I'll try to compare my first gaming experience to my latest ones (TERA, SWToR) - I hope it helps people.
I got into MMORPGs because of a comic I read ; a french comic that would translate as Naheulbeuk's Dungeon in english. It was basically a D&D adventure with a nerdy magician, a normie adventurer, an hungry ogre and an innocent elf hunter.
I really liked the last character, and wanted to "play as her", hence my wish to have WoW for Christmas. It may sound superficial to write about it, but i think it's actually important : my first character was created upon expectations. My Night Elf Huntress was someone, I saw in her more than she factually was. If I had to contrast, I'd say that nowadays, while we still look up to characters in order to fine tune our archetypes, we aren't actually excited to emulate someone.
We may like to mock those who call themselves xXKiritoSanXx, but honestly, if we consider they bought/downloaded the game expecting it to be a SAO emulation and it's their first experience, they'll immerse themselves and have way much fun than we can hope to have. Up until the character is too different and it breaks immersion, that is.
I don't think there's any game designing issue that could solve this though. What do you think?
Anyway after creating that first character, I hop on the beginner zone. I read the quests carefully, thinking they actually matter. And if I recall correctly, the text at least had bits of information about the quest location. After succeding, you had to choose between items, and I might be wrong but you actually could choose any of the succeeding quest items, it was up to you not to choose the wrong one.
Nowadays, I mostly feel smothered by a very suggestive HUD, with infos appearing all over the screen. Any quest has either a big star on the map or a golden trail that leads me straight to the mobs. No need to read whatsoever. I know this is a cause and effect system where quests have been dull because people don't want to read developed ones. But rather than innovating, their interest get deleted. The item choice? In TERA IIRC they even tell you which classes the stuff is recommanded for. It's really unimmersive. The game spoonfeeds you, in a way that you don't even know what's going on. You're not helped in y

He goes on to describe how society tells us to "enjoy!", to participate and so on. That's all I can remember.
I appreciate any help! I would love to read more on these topics
