A list of puns related to "New Zealand electorates"
Do I go for a throwback to that time I handed out blu-tack on the streets of Christchurch? Nah, I'll actually write this post
eelsemaj99 spends most of his waking hours canvassing, and tries to speak to as many people as possible while he does. On his trip, he makes a point of visiting every area of Auckland, as if he is to be their MP, he should represent them all: rich and poor, old and young: any other dichotomy trichotomy or difference in people you can think of.
This is based on a fundamental idea of fairness towards your neighbour and a wish that political leaders in New Zealand know and communicate with all their citizens.
In total, he spoke to 232 people that day, and the other members of his very small team reached another 1053. Not large enough for him to feel satisfied, but at least a good cross-section of the population. His private polling yielded similar results to the national polling figures for the town, with 32% of people saying that they would give their electorate vote to him, and a further 15% saying that they would be willing to vote for him if he convinced them so.
The key issues he identified in Auckland were:
Transportation
Immigration
Healthcare
The Economy
He worked his hardest to convince anyone that would listen of his commitment to the self-same concerns. On transportation, he pointed back to his campaign for the Auckland Council, where he ran on transport as his main issue. He proudly showed the results of his immigration reforms last term and proclaimed that he would like to go even further next term. Most people in the electorate lauded him for his good work. On healthcare, he said that TOP had big, bold plans for how to implement healthcare policy, that some of them had already been implemented, and that there would be more to come. On the economy, he pointed them to the TOP tax plan, implemented in last term's budget. He proudly proclaimed his party's plans for business reform and for bold progressive legislation.
Overall, many people were impressed by his message, and of those that said they may need to be convinced to support TOP, over a third assured him that they would. Overall, eelsemaj99 felt that while he was still behind, he was picking up momentum by talking to ordinary people, and presenting himself to the electorate, a tested man

Chris Silverwood is speaking to Sky "It just shows this game is never over, we went through our plans but sometimes you have to take your hat off to certain people. Today just wasn't our day."
Presentation time
**Kane Williamson: **"We've played each other on a number of occasions, knew it would be a great game of cricket, and really chuffed with the heart that was shown throughout that performance. Outstanding from Mitchell at the top, but cashing in on the match-ups [was crucial]. His character stood out today, an incredible knock, not done it a lot at the top of the order. T20 cricket is a game of small margins, depending on the surface, short side... can all be match-defining. We had wickets in hand which was really important. Neesham came out and hit the ball hard, and changed the momentum of the game. Ultimately the deciding factor."
**Eoin Morgan: **"Full credit to Kane and his team, they outplayed us today, I can't fault anything that we've done tonight, we've fought hard and represented ourselves well, but come up short tonight. Incredibly proud of the guys. Hard to identify the key moments, they built up until they had to push the button, then came good. He held them at bay up to that point. It was a sluggish pitch and we struggled to hit sixes, a good indication it was two-paced. We posted a par score and felt in the game at the halfway side. To have the ability to hit sixes from ball one like [Neesham], full credit to him. I hope to be back, I am still offering enough, and I love playing in this changing room. Incredibly proud to be their leader."
Daryl MItchell is Player of the Match: "A bit of a whirlwind, nice to get the job
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey fam, just thought I would post a NZ thread about the NZ-IND match as most of them tend to be focused on India. I was reasonably optimistic about our chances before the tournament, but that took a hit after the Pakistan match, and an even bigger one after Ferguson was ruled out. But this was a very polished performance from our team, and again shows our adaptability on the fly and the ability of our bowlers to execute under pressure. Santner flew under the radar but his accuracy meant he was so difficult for the Indian batters to attack, which played into Sodhi's hands, who also executed the right deliveries at the right time (see Kohli's wicket).
And Mitchell's form is incredibly reassuring, his game is uncomplicated but effective. Plus it feels like Guptill is capable of making some big contributions if things go his way. I think our middle order need to be tested, and I struggle to see us beating England (or maybe Pakistan) in their current form, but I just quietly feel we are on an upward trajectory.
Thoughts?
The Electoral College is the system that Americans use to elect their President. Donald Trump was recently elected, despite getting less votes than Hillary Clinton. Based on the 2014 NZ Election, we will see how an electoral college would carry out here.
If New Zealand had an electoral college. (Electoral votes are calculated by 1 in every 10 thousand people, rounded to the nearest 10)
467 votes = 234 to win
Northland: 17 electoral votes National
Auckland: 161 electoral votes Labour**(Depending on the boundaries) (Change it to National if you like, but I'll pick Labour)
Waikato: 44 electoral votes National
Bay of Plenty: 29 electoral votes National
Gisborne: 5 electoral votes National
Hawkeβs Bay: 16 electoral votes Labour
Taranaki: 12 electoral votes National
Manawatu-Whanganui- 23 electoral votes National
Wellington: 50 electoral votes Labour
Tasman: 5 electoral votes Labour
Nelson: 5 electoral votes National
Marlborough: 5 electoral votes National
West Coast: 3 electoral votes Labour
Canterbury: 60 electoral votes Labour
Otago: 22 electoral votes Labour
Southland: 10 electoral votes National
National: 150 votes Labour: 317 votes
Labour would win despite only getting 25.13% of the popular vote. National would lose despite getting 47.04% of the vote. No third parties would gain any representation.
edit: If National wins Auckland however, the votes would be swung to this:
National: 311 Labour:156
