A leader of the Communist Party India(M), P U Sanoop was working to ensure the distribution of food packages in the Thrissur Medical College, before he was killed.
Four other activists were also attacked. Vipin, Jithu, and Abijith were injured and reportedly, the condition of one of them is critical. The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital, but Sanoop's life couldn't be saved.
The CPI(M) party is denouncing a direct attack on its ranks as, reportedly, Sanoop is the fourth cadre of the party to be killed in recent days. Protests were organized by the party, to demand justice for the victims. The CPI(M) blamed "Sangh Parivar criminals" for the attacks, referring to the organizations spawned from the Hindu nationalist RSS wich includes Modi's BJP.
