A list of puns related to "My Oedipus Complex"
I married the psychological help (not mine) apparently we were both into taboo sex. It didn't last but she taught me about the Oedipus Complex and I have always wondered how my ex wife was like my adopted mom. (my 2nd wife is kinda)
I then remembered my stable memories are of hanging out with a social worker at McDonald's, etc and talking. Creepy.
Thoughts?
I mean, I don't want anything bad to happen to him, he's my friend.
Are their any counter-arguments from a psychoanalytic perspective to the claims made by Fanon in Black Skin White Masks? He states that 'Like it or not, the Oedipus complex is far from coming into being among Negroes'. This is because the black family is typically matriarchal, and any neuroses that a black person might have comes directly from contact with the white western world. What are the general views about Oedipus complex across different ethnic and cultural groups?
Folks, I have a question that has been eating at my mind for some time now, you might have guessed it from the title, here goes: Do gay people have some sort of Oedipus complex towards their fathers, and lesbians towards their mothers? Or is that not a thing at all in the gay community?
I don't know how offensive you guys think this question is, but I am genuinly curious.
Left - May and Mary Parker, Right - Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy

Just had a friend mention he read through this and I remembered how much of a trainwreck this entire clusterfrag was. Mark Millar really thought it'd be good if Peter's aunt and mom looked (way too) similar to his two biggest loves? Yikes. For those who (smartly) don't wanna read it, Linkara reviewed it.
Anyway, are there any other horrifically bad Spider stories you guys remember? Outside of One More Day and Sins Past, I mean. I find myself morbidly curious now how deep this rabbit hole goes.
Iβve tried to do some digging on the internet, but all Iβve found is stuff explaining (but not in too much depth) the Oedipus complex as Freud thought of it or people in forums asking βhey men, did you ever think your mother looked hot?β or something like that. So is it real, or was Freud wrong? And somewhere I found an article claiming a person tends to choose a spouse that looks like their opposite-sex parent, which is what made me think about this to begin with.
Also, sometimes itβs said that the Oedipus complex is male only, while the female equivalent is the Electra complex, while other times itβs said that the Oedipus complex applies to both. What did Freud think of the Oedipus/Electra complex in females?
I was listening to a lecture and it addressed Fromm's interesting take on the Oedipus Complex but I'm having difficulty finding in what of Fromm's primary texts he talks about said topic. If anyone knows where I could find this within his work I would be very grateful
It would totally suck if ur wife looked like ur mom
But then you remember your her dad
^(Oedipus complex is when girls envy their dads dick and guys have a fear of getting their dick cut off. Also apparently children want to sleep with the opposite sex parent)
I have never had violent thoughts toward anyone, but I have grown to dislike my father. I sometimes wish I could do terrible things to him so that my mom could be happy. I don't see him the same as I did when I was younger, I would even go as far to say as I hate him. I feel repulsed by him, and am afraid of these violent impulses. What should I do?
I saw this stand up recently and there was a joke that Oedipus would be pissed that we named "Oedipus Complex" after him because its the complex that you *want* to fuck your mom. But when he found out he had he carved his eyes out (or something, its been a while since I was forced to read Shakespeare, guys)
Is the narrative of the Oedipus complex understood as a mere description of the events of early childhood or does the psychoanalytic theory implicitly (or explicitly) expect it to happen accordingly for it to result in a "normal", functioning adult? And how to make sense of children placed within a familial dynamic that somehow doesn't fit very well with the narrative in regards to, for example, maternal and paternal roles?
Because you look like my mom.
βCause I sure donβt
