A list of puns related to "My HiME"
AAA: Sir, this is Triple A, not AA.
Me: I know, I'm trying to explain why my car is in the lake.
so I did. we went out. had a few drinks. real nice guy.
hes a web designer.
β¦βAnna couch.β
Me: "You want me to make you a sandwich?"
Son: "Ummm ... sure."
Me: grabs two slices of bread and puts his hand in between them "There, you're a hand sandwich."
He retorted, "Don't call me Three Years Old I'm Dad."
I have never been more proud.
I said βno, grade school.β
Imo, what makes a good dad joke is saying it so frequently that everyone almost expects it when the situation comes up, so I thought it would be fun to share some of our favourite go-to, day to day situational dad jokes. I'll start (most of these work better out loud):
Mine: Someone else: we'll be there around 8.30, 9. Me: that's very specific, not 8.38 or 8.40??
My dad's: Whenever we drive past a look out point he'll yell in a panicked kind of way "Lookout!!"
My husband's: Pretending not to see people dressed in camo, eg if someone dressed in camo is walking a dog "is that dog walking itself??" Bonus points if the other person doesn't realise what you're on about.
My sister's: Saying "hi, Drangea" whenever we walk past a hydrangea bush.
This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
She says: "On my way." "Oops. Wrong chat."
I replied: "Where you headed?"
Her: "Home"
Me: "Oops. Wrong chat."
Her: "I hate you"
Me: "How did you not see that coming?"
Her: "I don't know; I'm tired."
Me (c'mon, everybody, sing along) "Hi tired, I'm Dad!"
Yes! Dusted off the classic with minimal effort on my part.
β¦ I was working with this guy who kept ignoring me every time I said hi to him. Finally one day I asked him βwhatβs up?β He said essentially that I donβt like you very much. My response was βWell, do you have kids, if not, you should because that has been made very a-parent; yet I donβt know why. β
At first a look of angerπ
Then confusionπ€
Then a laughπ
We are ok now. π
To celebrate, we invited all the family and friends we could to my parents' house and then made the big announcement. Everyone was ecstatic and my father in particular was driven to tears. At a certain point during the night he pulled me aside and led me into his study, which I had never really been inside until this point. He opened a safe and produced cigars a bottle of whiskey and a large, beautifully bound book.
"I could never have asked for a better son," my father said, lighting the cigars and pouring the whiskey. "I hope you think I was a good enough father to deserve you."
βOf course, Dad," I said, "You were all I could've asked for and I wish my son admires me even half as much as I admire you."
βNow I've shared with you nearly everything I know," he said, "But not this one thing. This is the Big Book of Dad Jokes. There are many like it but this one is special. My father gave it to me when your mother and I first found out she was pregnant with you, and I studied it and studied it, learning all the dad jokes I could and mastering book's secrets. I hope it serves you as well as it served me in being a father... No... I know it will serve you well. I love you, my son."
βDad... I don't know what to say... I'm honoured..."
βHi Honoured, I'm Dad."
My Wife said to me that she was hungry.
I then said to her "Hi hungry, I'm dad"
I chuckled to myself but got nothing out of her.
I guess I am looking for some validation from other dad's that no matter how much this joke is told it will always be funny. When was the last time you pulled this out out of the bag?
Hi all, my sister broke her foot and needs cheering up.
Hit me with all your jokes about broken feet.

DISCLAIMER: not my joke, but I forgot where I heard it from. If any of you know, comment and I'd appreciate it
So a frog walks into a bank and approaches the teller. Her name is Mrs. Wack. He says "Hi, I'd like a loan"
She says "I dont know, you're a frog"
"Well, I want a loan"
"Okay, then. What's your name?"
"Kermit."
"As in "Kermit the Frog" Kermit?"
"No, my parents named me Kermit after Kermit. My name's Kermit Jagger. My father's Mick Jagger and my mother's a frog. Anyways, I want a loan for a lily pad"
"Well, do you have any collateral?"
"Well, I have this..." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small pink elephant.
"I dont know if I can accept this. Let me go in back and check with my boss"
Mrs. Wack goes into the back office where her boss is sitting.
"This frog came in, he says his names Kermit Jagger. He says he wants a loan and he gave me this as collateral" she holds up the pink elephant and gives it to her boss who inspects it for a moment
The boss turns to her and speaks. "Knick-Knack! Patty Wack, give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone!"
A frog goes into a bank to get a loan, he goes up to the teller, who's name was Patty and said,
"Hi, I'd like to get a loan out for a new lillypad.
Patty thought the situation was weird but complied with the frog's request anyway. She started off by asking the frog's name.
"What is your name?"
"My name is Kermit," the frog replied, "Kermit Jagger"
Patty was confused, "Why is your last name Jagger?"
"Well you see my father is Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones."
Patty, was still confused, "That's a weird last name for a frog."
Kermit, being somwhat offended, asked her in response,
"Well what is your last name if you don't mind me asking?"
"My last name is Whack." She responded
"Well that's a weird last name for a human." Kermit said.
So they move on and Patty gets more of Kermit's details and when she was finished, she asked him if he had any collateral.
Kermit pulled out a little porculan figurine of a pink elephant, Patty looks at the figurine and tells the frog she needs to show it to her supervisor. She goes to her supervisor and tells him, "Here's a frog out there named Kermit Jagger who wants to take out a loan for a lillypad, he's using this as collateral."
Her supervisor looks at the elephant figurine, and he tell her,
"That's a knick knack, Patty Whack, give the frog a loan! His old man's a Rolling Stone!"

BLUF: What are good retorts to the, "Hi [name], I'm Dad" classic?
I don't usually dabble in the dark arts of dad joke combat, but it's important to know how to defend yourself, especially on this sub.
My kids have begun to develop a calloused approach to my classic zingers and instead seek vengence, using my own spells against me now.
While I'm very proud of them for getting me with the same "Hi, I'm [name]" joke, there has to be a way to defeat it. Plus I need to remind them, that such power is not theirs to wield.
Dads of Reddit, what should I say back when they get me?
---EXAMPLE (True story)---
Me: No, we'll play that tomorrow. It's too late and I'm really tired right now.
Child: Hi really tired right now, I'm [name]
Me: Stunned yet proud silence <-- fix this
I am a construction manager, and a couple years ago my boss asked me to go meet a new subcontractor who we had never worked with before. When he arrived to the site he had a younger guy with him. He walks over and says "Hi, my name is Ron Anderson, and this is my son, Ron". I couldn't stop myself. I looked this stranger dead in the eye and said "Well, you know, two Ron's don't make a right!".
Neither he nor his son were amused. But they still did the work. Honestly, though, how many times in your life are you actually going to get the chance to say that. Carpe diem.
"Hi deer I'm on my way home soon; I feel like a million bucks. "
His wife replies "oh yes I'm very fawn'd of that place, they make me feel young again."
Hi guys! Iβm opening and Etsy shop with my sisters selling stickers (for all ages). Thereβs 3 of us, we live on the south shore, Massachusetts by the beach. Looking for a punny name!!! Help me out :)
My mother FaceTimed me so I could show her my sister and her baby
I went into my sister's room and said, "Hey mom wants to see you. Can you say a quick hello?"
Sister: Sure but just for a minute, I'm exhausted.
BIL, without dropping a beat: Hi exhausted, I'm a new dad!
Old but gold
"Hey, barkeep!" he says, struggling to keep control of his quarry. "Any room for me and my friends?"
The bartender smiles and sets down some plastic cups. The man plops his friends inside, but the cups are too small.
"Um...barkeep?" the man says, pulling them out again. The bartender reaches for some larger mugs, but as he places them next to the cups, it becomes obvious that even these will be too small for the pigs.
Seeing the man struggle to continue holding them, the bartender runs to the kitchen for help.
A cook emerges, holding several large measuring cups. "Sorry, I just used these to make a batch of cheese dip, but they're all yours!"
The man carefully plops each pig into its respective gooey yellow cup.
Arms exhausted, breathing heavily, he drops into a stool at the end of the bar, between his tiny friends and a beautiful girl.
He glances her way, gasping coyly. "Hey...I'm...Tom."
She smiles, having watched the whole ordeal. "Hi Tom, I'm Liz. And if you don't mind me asking..." she laughs, looking over his shoulder, "what was that all about?"
He glances back at the bar. "Yeah...sorry," he pants. "I wanted...to impress you, but...it turned out to be...a pretty cheesy...pig-cup line."
My 3 year old brother came up to me (and everyone else in the house several times each) to tell a joke he made up (translated from Turkish but works in English anyway).
3yo: Do you need to go to the bathroom (a question we ask him frequently)?
Me: No
3yo: Are you sure?
Me: Yes?
3yo: Oh, hi Sure!
Me: good grief in full
5 year old: Hi Full, I'm Miriam!
Never been so proud of her in my life.
so i know it was finally time. i went to his house and gave him my most treasured gift: my book "1001 Dad Jokes" he looked at me with tears in his eyes and said " thank you so much, im honored" which made me start crying. i responded with the only thing i could say "hi honored im dad"
I know it's been done before, and many a dad before me and many a dad after me will get to experience this, but in these dark times this was a ray of light that pierced me right to the core with joy.
I came home, and my bright and bubbly ballerina 6 year old runs up and says can I have a hug!?
She asks very tentatively because she knows I have been out all day and the routine is for me to grab a shower (COVID) before I let them get all over me.
So I say, not yet I'm dirty.
She says awww... then she turns to walk away, but then spins back around and looks at me dead in the eye and says:
Hi! um...
wait a sec,
um, I know um,
um, wait.... dir...
[Face beams the biggest smile of accomplishment]
Hi Dirty! I'm [daughter]!
I know we have those proud moments when they turn, but man her delivery, the awkwardness, and the sheer pride she beamed out when she realized she just pulled the reverse dad joke on me...
It's not the getting reverse dad'd, it's the joy and pride she had... she could have just graduated college, and that's how big her beaming smile was right then...
It's a memory I am going to keep and it really lit up this dark time.
My 7 year-year-old son knows me too well. When he's hungry, he becomes grumpy. The other day he said: "Papa, I'm hungry!! And please don't say 'hi hungry, I'm papa' ". I almost had tears of joy in my eyes
My wife drove by with the kids and visited me at work. While I was saying hi, this happened:
Wife: You have some silly kids in here.
Me: And in here [indicate my lab], I have some sili-cates!
When he got there, a woman extended her hand.
"Good afternoon, sir," she said. "My name is Patricia Wack. How may I help you today?"
Kermit replied, "Hi-ho, Patricia! I'm Kermit the Frog, and I would like to borrow some money."
They walked over to her desk and sat down.
"Certainly, Mr. Frog--"
"Oh, just call me Kermit."
"Okay... Kermit. How much money would you like to borrow?"
"Ten thousand dollars."
Mildly surprised, Ms. Wack looked intently at Kermit.
"Do you have any references?"
"Well, I suppose I could use my father, Keith Richards."
Ms. Wack froze for a second, then...
"THE Keith Richards?"
"Oh, yes. In fact, he told me he's friends with your manager, which is why I came in here."
"Okay... Do you have any collateral?"
"Excuse me?"
"Collateral. Something of value, like a car, or a boat..."
"Oh, yes! I do have something. I have this."
Kermit reached into his briefcase and placed a small figurine on the desk. Patricia looked curiously at the object, then at our amphibious friend.
"What's this?"
"It's a Hummel."
"A what?"
"A Hummel. They're supposed to be quite valuable. Well, at least this one is to me."
She picked up the Hummel and stood up.
"If you don't mind, I would like to show this to the manager."
"Oh, no! I don't mind at all!"
So, Patricia took the Hummel to the manager's office, knocked on the door, and walked inside.
"Patricia! What can I do for you?"
"Mr. Wilson, there's this... frog named Kermit at my desk, and he wants to borrow $10,000, but he has only this for collateral."
Mr. Wilson looked at the Hummel, then out to her desk.
"I don't see anything out of order here."
"But, Mr. Wilson--"
"Look, it's a knick-knack, Patty Wack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."
Hi everyone.
I don't know if this is allowed but I'm running out of ideas. I'm trying to make puns dealing with candies relating to the words "Leadership", "Service", and either "Fellowship" or "friendship". I figured this is the place of experts and hoped you could provide me with a solution. I'm planning on using this for big little reveal in my fraternity.
Thanks again ahead of time!
Last night, my daughter and I:
Her: "I'm cold, dad."
Me: "No, I'm cold dad, you're cold Elizabeth."
Her: "Dad, stop it! I'm cold, dad!"
Me: "No, I'm cold dad, you're cold Elizabeth!"
Her: "Daaaad! I'm cold, dad!"
Me: "I think what you want to say is "Dad, I'm cold.'"
Her: "Dad, I'm cold."
Me: "Hi cold, I'm Dad."
Her: "DAD NO."
Edit: Oh god the formatting was horrible, sorry about that.
So my daughter was full last night, so I gave her the ol' "Hi Full, I'm Daddy!" for the very first time.
She paused, looked at me like I was dumb, and said "My NAME is not Full. I AM full."
"Hi Not Full, I'm Daddy!"
She paused again, and said "My NAME is not Not Full. I'm full!"
"Hi Not Not Full, I'm Daddy!"
She figures out that this could go on forever and cracks up laughing. When she finishes she looks at me with a glimmer in her eye and tells me "I feel full." She never says "I'm full" now, and always uses "I feel full."
I'm not really sure where to go from here, guys. Help?
My SO and I just started trying to have a baby. When I walked in from work yesterday she looked at me and said, "TheClemmer, I'm pregnant!" to which I smiled and replied "Hi pregnant, I'm Dad!"
"Hi. My name is Robert if you need anything."
"Great. What's your name if we don't need anything?"
Robert: "Would you like more soda, sir?"
Dad: "Yes. Please."
Robert takes the glass and walks away to refill it.
Dad: "That's less soda, not more!"
Me: "Let's get more [tortilla] chips."
Dad smashes the last chip into hundreds of pieces. "There. More chips."
Edit: When the lights in the restaurant are dimmed.
Dad: Uh oh! Prices just went up!
(Who ordered the ambiance?)
I've kind of been encouraging it, but tonight my 18 month old did it all by herself.
Getting her ready for dinner, I pull the highchair up to the table.
Daughter: Highchair! Highchair!
Me: It is
Daughter: waves Hi, chair!
Me: Hi hungry, I'm American!
My Son: That only works if I said I was Hungarian...
Me: I could never make fun of a foreigner's poor English...
Me: Daddy Iβm thirsty!
My dad: Hi thirsty Iβm Fridy lets go Saturdy and get a Sundy.
Iβm sure itβs not original but it makes me laugh to think of how I was making my dad insane asking for a DRIIINNNKKK and he would always come back with this.
(This just transpired: I got sweaty cleaning out my shower and walked into the hall to cool off.)
Me to my SO: Shower is clean.
SO: oh good. Ew. You're gross
Me: yeah. I'm sweating.
14 y/o from down the hall in her room while painting her nails yells: "HI SWEATING!"
(I'm so proud)
My Little Sister: No! What happened?!
Dad: Dont worry, he woke up.
My Little Sister: ROLLS EYES
Me: Hahahahahaha! Nice.
My Little Sister: Omg! Is this funny?
Dad: No, THIS IS PATRICK! (We all really love SpongeBob SquarePants)
I GET UP TO GIVE MY DAD A HIGH FIVE AND HIS PHONE RINGS AS SOON AS I GET UP. IT'S MY MOM CALLING HIM FROM THE KITCHEN
Mom: Hi, I was wondering if I had the right number. Is this funny?
Dad: No! THIS IS PATRICK!
My Little Sister: Really?! You too Mom?!
Mom: No, I'm 49 sweetie.
My Little Sister: Nevermind! I'm watching, "Black Mirror," in my room by myself.
Dad: Sweetie, African American, don't just call them Black. That's not nice.
My Little Sister: ............. I hate you all.
I know this isn't necessarily a,"Dad Joke." It's more of a conversation my Dad and Little Sister had. But it was seriously one of the funniest moments I've ever seen.
I really love my family. Lol
(x-post from /r/TalesFromRetail)
[was told I should post it here as well]
This happened shortly after I started back to work in retail.
My grocery shift had just started and I was about to begin facing one end of an aisle when I spotted a man in his mid to late 30s at the other end of the aisle. We made eye contact and he made a beeline straight for me.
Me: "Hi. How are you today?"
Him: "Do you know what to do if you get a sudden urge to strip off all your clothes and run around naked in public?"
Now, at this moment, I'm not sure what's happening. I can't pick up any clues from his body language that would indicate where this conversation is going to go. I'm a wee bit concerned that this man is about to start taking off his clothes in front of me. Not exactly what I had planned for the day. He's staring at me intently, waiting for a reply. I don't want to spook him, so I do the only thing I can think of and that's just to stand there and stare at him silently.
After a few seconds, he says to me "Just spray yourself down with Windex. It prevents streaking. Have a nice day!"
He grins and walks away. I started laughing (a little too hysterically ... mostly because of relief).
