A list of puns related to "Monster in My Family"
I am not joking (ironically).
My dad is tech savvy but not social media savvy so he doesnโt understand how to use Reddit. A while back he discovered those Reddit text to speech bots that post podcasts on places like Spotify or Amazon music of posts from this subreddit. Heโs always been one to like to listen to audiobooks and podcasts but this has gotten out of control. We cannot go a single DAY in my household without my dad finding some way to shoehorn a joke he found on this subreddit into conversation. It has gotten to the point where my mom gets angry that the setup make her nervous or upset but then got the rug pulled out when she heard the punchline. My friends know of my dads shenanigans and will laugh every time they can tell I got bamboozled while on the phone. Itโs been nearly a year and heโs out of control. Our immediate family knows but does not understand the sheer scale of these shenanigans. We argue because my mom thinks itโs crazy and excessive, but deep down I think itโs adorable.
TL;DR - this subreddit has accidentally turned my dad into the dad joke monster thanks to Reddit TTS bots.
Characters: My wife, my son (four years old), and my daughter (his twin, so obviously also four).
Son: "My classmate didn't like me laughing at her today."
Wife: "Why were you laughing at her?"
Son: "I'm a vampire! Bwa ha ha ha ha!"
Wife: "OH! Like an evil laugh?"
Son: "Yeah! Bwa ha ha ha ha!"
Daughter: "I'm a witch! Hee hee hee hee!"
Wife: "So you're both monsters?"
Son: "Yep!"
Daughter: "Hee hee hee hee!"
Wife: "Am I a monster too?"
Son: "Yeah! You're a ... " <dramatic pause> " ... mummy."
Whole family in hysterical laughter, and after it dies down he goes, "Get it!? Mummy!"
I've never been so proud. A spontaneously generated pun of that caliber at four years old, AND an unnecessary clarification/repetition of the joke? I've got high hopes for this one.
