A list of puns related to "Mohair (band)"
hello !! i am a pretty new knitter and iโm looking to make a sweater as a present for someone and he wants it to be very soft and fuzzy, so i thought of either cashmere or mohair. i know cashmere is very expensive, but am not sure exactly where to even look for it online to see if itโs worth getting or not !! i also am not sure where to go online for nice mohair yarn. any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
Iโve worked with mohair in combination with other fibers, but never just mohair or mohair+mohair. I just ordered a whole lot of it for the camille sweater and was wondering if there are any tips for working with mohair.
Hey everyone, I found this beautiful cardigan online and want to knit a similar one as close as possible for my mom's birthday. The creators used an Italian brand yarn with a composition of 60% kid mohair and 40% acrylic. That's all I know. I would love to find the exact brand of yarn they used to make the cardigan. Or have a similar yarn. Any ideas? https://imgur.com/a/Cd4s5Sn
Maybe yarn is a two strand worsted
Iโm thinking about trying to knit a sweater in fingering weight and adding a strand of mohair. Iโm trying to estimate how much yarn to buy; will adding the mohair change the gauge enough to change the yardage I need to buy?
Is it do-able, or should I not attempt it? ๐
My first ever knitting project was a cardigan made out of silk mohair yarn. I loved it and was so proud, but now that Iโve knitted a few more sweaters I can see how horrible the first one looks. I donโt use it so I would like to frog it and reuse the yarn, but Iโm not sure if I should considering that silk mohair has a tendency to become tangled.
Does silk mohair change (grow? Expand?) after blocking? My google search is frustrating. The different sites all have the same sentence about it?!?!:
โMohair and silk blends will stay the same size as you blockโ
Does that mean itโll expand, and as I block itโll stay the same? Or does that mean that the size of the garment will remain the same before/after blocking? This is my first cardigan and my first time knitting with a silk/mohair blend.
Iโm making the petiteknit Novice Cardigan mohair edition, btw. Iโm getting close to finishing the body and Iโm worried Iโll end up with a cardigan that looks more like a mini-dress after blocking.
I knitted a cardigan with knitting for olive soft silk mohair and it became itchy after washing. Itโs not unbearable but itโs itchier than it was before washing :( it was soft and not itchy before washing it. Is there a way to fix it?
As the title says, I'm looking to make my first sweater and currently researching the best yarn for it. I'd like the yarn to be soft wool but one that doesn't easily pill and won't shrink/felt.. I'm having a hard time trying to find one!
I've narrowed it down to two options: either I go with a scratchier wool that is also sturdier or I go with a merino wool and hope that knitting it double with mohair will decrease the pilling. I guess for the scratchier wool if I hold double with mohair it might make it softer too, but unsure if the scratchiness might come through anyway through the "fluff" of the mohair. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thank you ~
I signed myself up for a yarn club and it comes with 1 skein of fingering weight yarn and 1 skein of mohair each month. The colors are different each time, and I want to use the pairs together because of the theme.
Do you have any patterns that work with these kinds of yarn? Thanks in advance!
Lately Iโve become fixated on making a sweater out of mohair only, whether held single, double, tripe, etc. just something really light and ethereal? If that makes sense!
Just wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations. Iโve tried combing through Ravelry, but that can be daunting even with the search filters.
Any feedback as well on working with only mohair on a sweater would be appreciated too, see if itโs even worth my time.
The Doors.
Hello Knitters!
Sorry for my english, not my first language, etc.
I am trying to make my first sweater for myself (Yeah!!) but it is my first time doing an adult size sweater and my first time knitting mohair. I use double strand of mohair but my shirt looks transparent. Is it normal? Will it get better after washing?
Thank you!
I recently inherited a ton of loop/boucle mohair yarn ( I mean, a TON of it). But... what do you knit with loopy mohair? You can't just make a sweater, can you? It would turn into a poodle, right...?
Most of the yarn is a brand called Molla-Mohair, but it's from the 70s and I can't find it anywhere online. It's similar to this Mohair Loop by Mountain Colors, though.
