Last Time I'll bring this up until TAR 34 if that even happens one day. The idea of a returnee season consisting of first eliminations gets thrown around for pretty much every reality show. Phil Keoghan has admitted that he is aware of the idea and thinks there was missed potential and that it is a possibility. I'm going to run down the likelihood and general interest I have in chronological order.
- Matt and Ana were the first team to be eliminated in the whole franchise and bringing them back for this would be fitting since it would be the ultimate "The bus came back around" sort of deal. The biggest drawback is that they weren't too memorable since Season 1's cast was mostly just everyday people because this was before the series did "stunt-casting", so they might not be riveting TV. The main issue though is that they're divorced. They might still be on good enough terms that they would agree to compete again. I would say invite them and if they reject the offer, it's not the end of the world.
- Deidre and Hillary are never going to happen. I feel like the window for a 2nd chance has come and gone since Deidre is now 71 years old and I can't say that it would be a good use of a cast slot.
- I would like to see Gina and Sylvia since I thought they were likable enough that I wouldn't mind them getting a second chance. Age isn't too much of a concern since they're both in their early 50s, but I'm not sure if they would want to compete again. Neither of them have social media and they may hesitate to appear again if they want to remain private. I would invite them to this cast, but I don't think they would perform too well, admittedly.
- Debra and Steve were laughably bad and this season should be used to give second chances to people who deserve it, not to reward failure.
- Dennis and Erika are unlikely. They're broken up, but that's not a deal-breaker on its own since they could still be friends. The real issue is that Erika is now a casting director for the show and I don't think she would be allowed to cast herself.
- Avi and Joe are almost always mentioned when this topic comes up. I guess they could have been entertaining since they did seem to have a sense of humor, but I'm not sure why they're so popular. They are viable though and they have said they would indeed compete again if they were granted another chance and Phil mentioned them specifically as a team he'd like to see compete again, so I feel like they'd be likely.
