This is a ranking of how much I like the contestants from Season 5 of Masterchef. It is not a ranking of who is the best chef, but who I like the most. Also, some spoilers for Season 5.
Courtney- I hate Courtney, and it's not just because of the favoritism. The favoritism is frustrating as the judges never insult Courtney the way they do to other great chefs when they make mistakes, and Courtney should not have won every challenge that she won. One thing I'll point out is that she pretty much only did well in challenges focused around desserts and Italian food. She is a good cook, but not anywhere close to the level of Elizabeth from the same season. She should not have won. A big issue I have is her attitude. She is very loud, outspoken and arrogant in interviews, but she is quiet and manipulative when talking to the judges. When she said in the third episode "If I'm not the best cook here I'm in the top... 2", I got so mad. Even the most arrogant people from the same season besides her would have said "5" at that point. She is immature with lines like "Girls rule and boys drool" that make her hard to respect. I hate looking at Courtney's face and her horrifying expressions. She rolls her eyes and sticks her tongue out at people more than Elizabeth rolls her eyes. Courtney is never humble, has a laughable backstory that she expects viewers to sympathize with, and should not have won the season.
Cutter- Cutter is probably one of the top 5 "contestants who should have been eliminated way earlier." Yes, he mostly was just bad with desserts, but he messed up so many times that you have to wonder why he got to fourth. Of course, this is because he created drama. He was a mean guy who argued with many and deemed others the issue in team challenges when he was the issue. He is just super unlikeable and should not have outlasted Christian, Jamie, Willie, Ahran, Victoria, both Francises, and many others.
Astrid- She was the first one out, but she was unlikeable. She was quite mean and when she threw scraps on the ground and said "I thought they had people who cleaned", I lost any respect I had for her.
Stephani- This girl sucks. She is mean and arrogant and tried to give soldiers raw chicken while claiming Leslie wasn't helpful. I'm also very glad she left early.
Elise- I'm almost more surprised that Elise got to 13th than Cutter got to 4th. She was a crybaby and far and away one of the weakest links. Her passing out scene was ridiculous.
Maybe it's just me, but I love Cutter. When he plates a dish, he honestly believes it's the best dish in the competition. Hell, Cutter would eat it. He's shining a light on a truth that MasterChef too often obfuscates: cuisine is subjective. Who is anyone to say that Cutter's opinion isn't valid? What Cutter is doing is reminding us of a dream we forgot. That in this world, anyone can be anything. Cutter is the goddamn American Dream.

Does anyone know where I can find MasterChef AU season 6? I want to watch this because I want to see how Laura and Emilia did back then :)
Am I missing something here? I am on episode 17 and not once have I seen the Judges mentor their picks (students). They don't even taste their students dishes most of the time during judging. There is no teaching (mentoring) going on aside from the occasional edited scenes where the judges walk up to the contestants and taste their dishes like usual.
I follow all versions of Masterchef but I was totally taken off guard by this years finalists Andre and Jennifer in MC Canada Season 6. MC Canada usually has cooks repeating mostly similar type of cuisines but Jennifer I have to say is one of best winners ever.
Her plating, ideas and techniques felt like a professional Michelin Chef who wanted to tell a story through their food. I highly recommend everyone to see at least the final when she elevated childhood delicacies into great dishes.
Choose who you think the best winner is!
I was so hyped for the setup I decided I would wait and see if react Andy had decided on watching it or not first so I can watch with his and chatβs reactions. More fun that way.
I think they're already going to premiere season 12 of the regular season. Somewhere around Spring? MCJ8 has been shot years ago and was supposed to premiere years ago as well.
Since it's not been made yet..
Sorry if heβs already addressed this. Iβm mostly a youtube viewer so idk if he said something about this on stream.

I can't believe it's coming to an end. You guys would always make me laugh and provide great points, that nobody else would notice. I want to thank you so much for participating this season and I hope to see you guys again next season, masterchefs. Love you guys.
Just a quick note: Please don't spoil anything in this thread unless it has been aired. (Ex. The spoiler post about the final two). Just wait until it's been shown. Thank you
And happy watching.
My predictions were only partially correct. Olivia's comeback was surprising to me.
I'm sad to see Mikey go.
I want to try to list a handful of contestants from each season that I think were great and could potentially win a different season. This is only for the first 8 seasons as I haven't seen the last 3 seasons yet but I'm sure some contestants from those seasons are good. This is all about cooking ability, not personality. Here is a list of all potential competitors I'd want by season:
Season 1: Lee, Sharone
Season 2: Christian, Tracy
Season 3: Becky, Frank, Felix
Season 4: Natasha, Jessie, James, Eddie
Season 5: Elizabeth, Leslie, Christian, Ahran
Season 6: Derrick, Stephen, Nick
Season 7: Brandi, Terry, Andrea
Season 8: Jason, Eboni, Cate, Gabriel
That's 26 cooks, so I should probably narrow it to around 20. Here is a list of the 20 I would want:
Season 1: Lee
Season 2: Christian
Season 3: Becky, Frank
Season 4: Natasha, Jessie, Eddie
Season 5: Elizabeth, Leslie, Christian, Ahran
Season 6: Derrick, Stephen, Nick
Season 7: Brandi, Terry, Andrea
Season 8: Jason, Eboni, Cate
Who would you want in an all-star season?
Whether it's between 2 or 3 cooks, the season finale of Masterchef is supposed to be of the very best chefs. However, most seasons did not have a top selection I was rooting for. I am going to talk about which chefs I think should have been in the finale of each season based on individual cooking ability and the connection between the contestants. I also will only do the first 8 seasons as those are the only ones I care about.
Season 1: Sharone vs Lee- These two were, in my opinion, the strongest chefs of their season. They also had a bit of a rivalry that would make the finale even more interesting. I do like Whitney, but I think Lee and Sharone is the matchup I wanted to see the most.
Season 2: Christian vs Adrien- I want to note right off the bat that I like Christian a lot and think most of his arrogance was very scripted. Also, I liked Ben Starr the most in the season, but I'm not sure if I would want him in the finale instead of these two. Christian and Adrien had a bit of a rivalry in the season but they also both had a lot of respect for each other's abilities. I feel Christian deserved the title more than Jennifer, so to see these two top chefs battle it out would have been amazing.
Season 3: Frank vs Josh- Christine is great, and she definitely earned the title, but I would have killed to see Frank and Josh battle in the finale instead of a pressure test. Yes, Becky and Frank had a stronger rivalry than Josh and Frank, but near the end of the season Frank and Josh butted heads. I also feel that Josh and Frank were two of the strongest cooks and my two personal favorites. I think they would have made for an incredible finale.
Season 4: Eddie vs Luca- I know some of you probably think I'm crazy for putting 8th place in the finale. However, I really think Eddie was a top 3 chef of the season. He never really messed up and won some challenges. I am happy with Luca being in the finale and winning because he was a great chef with lots of growth, but I think Eddie should have gotten to the finale as well. I know Luca and Natasha had a bit of a rivalry so it makes sense that they were in the finale, but I think Eddie deserved it even without any rivalry with the other contestants.
Season 5: Leslie vs Elizabeth- I also considered Leslie vs Ahran for the sake of the relationship between the two, but Elizabeth absolutely was the best chef of her season and deserved to be in the final 2. Courtney, despite winning a lot in the competition and having ple
