A list of puns related to "Mandibular nerve"
A little background: I'm 28 and remember a specific moment my jaw popped so hard i couldn't eat properly for a few days when I was around 23. Prior to that there had been slight clicking every so often but now the whole jaw pops out of the left socket when I open too wide. Compared to others I've seen in this sub I know I have it pretty good - Consciously eating smaller bites and being aware of my posture/clenched teeth has kept it from affecting my quality of life too much.
A few months ago I started feeling some pain under my left jaw where my tmjd is, but only when I touch it (most noticeable when I forget and then rest my chin on my left hand). It's a nerve tingling type of pain, and my dentist thought it was caused by my wisdom teeth. 4 teeth extractions later the pain is still there, so I'm pretty sure the tmjd is causing it. Does anyone else have this experience and have you tried anything to help it?
I'm getting Invisalign next month as I have pretty misaligned teeth that was never corrected. Hoping it will help a bit.
3 weeks post-op. I have a strained left side marginal mandibular nerve injury. Whenever I smile the left side stays up and my smile is crooked ): will this resolve? How long? Is it permanent?
If a person having bruxism regularly uses a mouth guard, is there any possibility of slight temporal mandibular joint remodeling? Perhaps enough to impinge upon the nerve pathways?
Hey there everyone. So I am trying to figure out if I have trigeminal neuralgia. I have several reasons to think it is TA, but also several reasons to think it could be actual tissue damage. Or perhaps even a mixture of both of them. I have an upcoming appointment with a neurologist in a month.
This is going to be a novel so please please forgive me for the rather long read. I do apologise that I am very long-winded and thorough. Again I apologise.
Also for what it is worth, upon my reading, it seems that the trigeminal nerve originates at the temple points, and has the following 3 nerve branches the start from that temple point.
The first branch
The second branch
The third branch
Now that I have outlined that for context later, I would like to share with all of you brave people what happened with me. (and regardless if I truly have this or not, I am going to start donating to it, because reading about it has really tugged on my heartstrings for many people who do indeed suffer from it and I am sorry if you are going through it).
So about two months ago, I was shaving. I struggle getting a close shave, and read online that pulling the skin taut can result in a smoother shave. So, I tried this, probably in the dumbest way possible.
I grapsed my skin by each temple (the left temple and the right temple), and pulled vertically upwards. My grasp and strength of pull was hard to say the least. I held on with my hand to keep the skin up and stretched as I shaved. HUGE mistake.
Upon letting go, and releasing the pressure and grasping, I felt some deep deep pain on my left temple. Mild pain in my right temple, and deep pain in my left cheekbone area (which is not even where I grapsed from, but of course the left cheek bone is among the area of the maxillary branch)
Also, upon letting go, I literally saw my left cheek droop lower than I had ever seen it droop (fell by like half to a full centimeter), and also even saw a depression to the left of my left cheekbone. This depression lay right above my newly descended cheek skin/fat. Like the fat and tissue had USED to be there, but now that it des

βI have your breakfast right here! Wonβt you please just lay down and eat?β
βIβm not hungry. Where are my clothes?β
The nurse threw up her hands. βIn the garbage! They were cut off of your body, Mr. McClendon! And they were torn to shreds before that!β
βFine, Iβll make a toga.β
The nurse leapt forward as Levi moved to strip the sheet off of the hospital bed. βMr. McClendon, stop! Youβre going to hurt yourself!β
βIβll be fine.β He tried, and failed, to suppress a pained grunt when the sheet didnβt come away from the bed as easily as he had expected it to.
βYoung man, I will call your mother!β
βPlease do.β Levi tried to step around the nurse, resulting in a kind of shuffling dance as she stayed between him and the bed. βLet her know that I intend to spend as little time as possible anywhere near THAT BITCH!β He glared at the wall in the direction of the room at the far end of the ward.
βMr. McClendon, please! There are people still sleeping!β
Leviβs cheeks flushed and he hung his head. β...sorry.β
The nurse sighed. βMr. McClendon, I understand your frustration. And, again, Iβm very sorry about last night. But you saw for yourself that she canβt hurt you.β The nurse paused with a thoughtful frown. βWell, maybe she could kick you, if you go lean over her bed, but nonetheless, she is in no condition to make a nuisance of herself.β
Levi glared at the floor.
βNow, would you please take your medication and lie back down? At least eat your breakfast!β
βI can eat standing up.β Levi growled as he shuffled carefully towards the table.
The nurse rolled her eyes. βAnd your meds?β
βIβm fine.β He winced as he picked up the plate of scrambled eggs and started shoveling them into his mouth.
βYouβre not fine, youβre in pain! I can see it! Your breathing is shallow, youβre stiff, and youβre wincing every time you move when you think Iβm not looking!β
Levi paused his inhalation of the food briefly to look over at the nurse, gritting his teeth as the numerous scabs and bruises on his neck shrieked in protest. What started as an attempt to star

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The nurse asked the rabbit, βwhat is your blood type?β

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

TL;DR: 241 nerve attacks today and counting. Have done all the treatment steps including MVD last year and it's gotten this bad again. FML.
I've never actually counted them before. I usually try to distract myself and not pay attention to the extent that that's possible. Today I have been wholly present to the pain, and I'm a mess.
This is way more attacks than I ever estimated. I've previously guessed I'd have maybe 50 attacks on a bad day. To be fair, I'm both sleep-deprived and have PMS at the moment; both are big TN triggers for me. So it's been an unusually bad day. But still... 241! And the day isn't done yet. Also, while it's up there, this isn't the worst day I've ever had.
Each time I get a series of zaps in the same place, I count it. Could be one shock, could be 20 - that's one "attack". If I have zaps going simultaneously in totally different spots, such as ear and upper lip, with no pain traveling between them (the way it sort of runs through the nerves like lightning, hard to describe), I count that as two attacks.
The attacks have ranged in intensity from 2 to 9 (on the 1-10 pain scale). Most are 4-6.
I had MVD surgery last November. That reduced the attacks in my face area maybe 50%, but in the last month it's getting worse again. More recently I've had two nerve blocks of the mandibular branch of the trigeminal nerve where it exits the foramen ovale. The first, a diagnostic block and purposeless short-acting, helped a ton (zero pain for ten whole hours!). The second one last week helped much less even though it was the same med in the same spot. It was supposed to help more and for longer because the steroid injected with the numbing medicine should reduce chronic inflammation.
I have several benign nerve sheath tumors in and around my left ear, the same side as my TN, so it's impossible to know which attacks are because of TN and which ones are from the neurofibromas. They feel exactly the same. It really complicates things. The tumors I initially had removed for biopsy grew back. These kinds of tumors often do, and combined with the tricky location, it means removing the tumors isn't likely to be a helpful option.
I'm on as much Tegretol and Gabapentin as I can tolerate before the side effects get intolerable. (Fairly low doses - 1200 mg Gabapentin and 100 mg Tegretol.) I'm on a bunch of other meds for unrelated stuff and they all interact making med management a challenge. We've tried ot
