I think the artists name started with David (last name was something-heart) something but not sure. I cannot rest until I figure this out! Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a not a native English speaker. I recently heard the song 'Piano Man' by Billy Joel. I instantly fell in love with the song. I don't know what it was about the song but it just struck a chord. What other similar songs do you recommend to someone who hasn't heard a lot of songs in English? .
He said something about being back in the black and hitting something about a sack?
About two years ago I saw a full flick on youtube. It was VHS quality, and a tv movie. Saying that I know there's a chance that it may not have made it to dvd. It begins with a black man in his 50s living down in the South with his dog. Life is simple until a group of strange people take residence on his property.
The old man allows the strange family to live there, even brings them food because he has a kind soul. One day a white man looking for work comes to his ranch. He's the son of the black man's best friend years ago. They work together on the ranch until the young daughter of the strange family catches the white man's eye.
They bond, fall in love, and move in to a house that the white man owns around the black man's property. After some time the strange woman starts painting all over the walls of his house, showing strange scenes of magic, natural imagery etc. It has a crazy twist ending where the odd people turn into birds when they retreat back to their own house.
I didn't think much of the movie, so I didn't care about remembering the title. It keeps coming back into my mind, and bugging me now. It has a similar plot / tone to Eyes of Fire, and the black man looked like uncle Remus from Song of the South.

That's really all I've got. I think I saw it on Reddit recently, within the past month (that helps, it's such a small, quiet site) and I'm pretty sure the artist had a super generic name, which was awesome. I also think he was wearing yellow while fighting these ninjas.
Also it could not be from the 80's, but I'd be willing to bet at least a fistful of Galleons that it was.

I always saw it as one of her story telling songs - it starts off in rocky waters but they eventually realize they can overcome the obstacles ie. the line "You were looking at me" and decide to come back together. However, I was talking to my friend and she was saying that it just implies that they realized that there was nothing to fear but they still ended up apart, which is why she keeps questioning at the end "are we out of the woods?" which makes me sad to think of it that way :(
