A list of puns related to "MTV Supermodel of the Year"
But it takes up to much space in my freezer
Inspired by this Twitter post.
With the announcement of Taylor Swift winning this yearβs MTV VMA for Video Of The Year, how would you rank the award recipients of the past 10 years?
Here they are for reference:
2010: Lady Gaga β Bad Romance (directed by Francis Lawrence)
2011: Katy Perry β Firework (directed by Dave Meyers)
2012: Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris β We Found Love (directed by Melina Matsoukas)
2013: Justin Timberlake β Mirrors (directed by Floria Sigisimondi)
2014: Miley Cyrus β Wrecking Ball (directed by Terry Richardson)
2015: Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar β Bad Blood (directed by Joseph Kahn)
2016: BeyoncΓ© β Formation (directed by Melina Matsoukas)
2017: Kendrick Lamar β HUMBLE. (directed by Dave Meyers & the little homies)
2018: Camila Cabello feat. Young Thug β Havana (directed by Dave Meyers)
2019: Taylor Swift β You Need To Calm Down (directed by Drew Kirsch)
Some interesting things to note:
β’ Dave Meyers has won this award three times this decade!
β’ The two Taylor Swift videos which won this award are the video in which Taylor declares war against Katy, and the video in which Taylor and Katy make up.
Also, the wardrobe department keeps putting him in relatively tight clothing while he seems to be bulking up over time. The wardrobe department are heroes on our side.
That is all.
Back in 2014, me and a few friends were hanging out and had MTV playing in the background. It pretty early in the morning so they hadnβt started their βrealityβ tv bullshit yet and still had music videos going. I didnβt have a stereo at the time and Iβm not sure why non of us just used our phones for music. But I digress.
I remember hearing the chorus and laughing at the fact that they made a song based on the movie. After that I watched a bit of the video and found it at least a little entertaining even though I donβt usually like really poppy songs.
Fast forward to 2018 and Iβm listening to the radio in the car with my girlfriend. This song comes on and I laugh. As a knee-jerk reaction, I say βWow, I remember when this song came out. Itβs kinda old as far as music goes.β
She looks at me like I had tomatoes growing out of my head and asks what Iβm talking about because βthis song literally came out a week ago.β
We start going back and forth about when the song came out and she finally says that when we get to where weβre going that sheβll show me the video and prove it cake out that year, not 2014.
We get to our destination and she pulls out her phone but I stop her before she can play the video. I tell her once again that Iβve already seen the video and start describing he first few scenes where Lil Dicky is in a Chinese restaurant and talks with a guy that basically insults him then wishes he was someone more famous then he switches bodies with Chris Brown and the song starts.
She asks how I knew that because the video only came out that day and Iβm not usually one to be on the up-and-up when it comes to music videos.
I explain one more time that Iβve already seen the video, 4 years earlier.
Vanity...
