What do most people/companies get wrong about Looker when it comes to usage?
Hi all,
Are there any documents that effectively explain the value of Looker? I want to sell Looker to our company and want to read the best material there is that explains value of Looker.
I have some programming skills and there is currently a necessity that I need to choose and learn a BI tool for an upcoming project, for connecting data sources, creating reports and doing interactive visualizations by myself.
I have done my research and found out Looker is kinda out of reach, with it's price, for self-learners.
Found out there are some public trainings and certifications for Tableau and PowerBI.
Can you help me choose which one to learn? 🤔
I've done the intro course and have done the dailies for a few months now and I'm still having a hard time answering Sam's rhetorical questions. For example today he asked us to touch our fingers and asked "are you observing them from above?" meaning are we looking at them from behind our eyes which are located in this circumstance above our hands.
My answer is "yes", and I'm not sure how to conceive of this in any other way. My guess is that Sam leaves these questions unanswered because he wants the listeners to discover the "headless way" or non-centered consciousness on our own, but I sometimes wish he would just say, "try and see it this way instead" and end the suspense.
Wherever we're perceiving consciousness from, isn't that a center? If we "back up" are we perceiving our body in space as in front of us and isn't that still a centered perspective even though it's not in our heads?
I get so twisted up with this. I feel like the solution, and the mental relief he touts, is so near and so far away.
We adopted these this year, and I'm wondering what I'm worth now? 7 years in the analyst/BI/developer role. Located greater Salt Lake City area.
I bought it a while ago, so I am only trying it now.
The general consensus - at least negative - for the game is that its repetitive and fatiguing:whilst it looks lovely, after a while your hands break playing this thing. Wave after wave of enemies swarm you, and you're there mashing the attack button, quite mindlessly at times.
I've started playing our MV games with an arcade/fight stick. Trust me everyone, if you have anyway to use a TURBO button, whether hard or software... this game is so much more fun to play.
I would love to hear your thoughts if you played this back near release or recently.
Just finished B2W2, and I wish we got to see more of Looker. Not his comedy-relief side, but his actual battling skills. The guy got all of the Unova badges legitimately and got into the top 8 of the Unova League with just his homie croagunk. That's literally nuts.
So I'm kinda disappointed that he's shoved away for comedy, especially in B2W2 where he's mostly just there to make Blake look "more perfect" in comparison. Maybe he could've fought some of the battles Blake did- slowly getting Blake's approval and respect or something which, in turn, could have served as a character development for Blake to be more open/human and not just be a mere "machine" for interpol. Maybe a father-child relationship could've formed (like what initially started with Platinum tho it wasn't ventured much), since Blake especially was an orphan at a really young age and probably forgot what having a dad was like.
I'm not a writer so my idea is probably stale, but tbh I kinda just felt really underwhelmed with this arc in general. :')
Looker: What are your thoughts on Looker as a BI/analytics tool?
It's been acquired by Google and has done well for the past couple of years according to Gartner's Magic Quadrant.
Obviously it's a lot younger than the likes of giants of BI like Tableau and Qlik but wanted to get your thoughts.
Who would you make a lincoln looker and why? For me it would be Tucker Carlson or alex jones
