A list of puns related to "Look Back in Anger (1959 film)"
aka "isn't anger actually a pretty bad card"
Anger: Does 6(8) damage, 0 cost, add a copy to discard
I know this is a fairly perennial topic, and I'm not a super experienced and super good player, but uh, aren't a lot of people, including fairly experienced people, overvaluing anger? In particular here's a few points that aren't often made, so maybe people might want to offer some thoughts...
Anger has a pretty bad winrate amongst good players
Out of 72 Ironclad cards listed in https://spirelogs.com/stats/ironclad/tierlist.php Anger is number 62. That's to say, using the (admittedly esoteric) scoring method, for Ascension 17+ players anger is the 11th worst Ironclad card. Looking deeper into the stats suggests some explanations: anger might help with hallway fights, but a deck with anger in it does worse than a deck without anger against virtually every boss (except a couple of Act 1 bosses).
Even Jorbs, who likes picking up anger, shows not exactly reliable performance with this card. https://spirelogs.com/compare/ironclad/card-winrate.php?user=jorbs100
Anger might be his 10th most often picked card, but of those ten cards he has the lowest winrate with anger. In fact out of his 20 most picked cards only Clothesline has a lower win rate. In his most recent dataset ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WF89mszVaNCHWFyc6lafLrfoTXbMJddAL-CH8EKv9Bc/edit#gid=2120555449 ) anger having decks score *worse* than his anger-less ironclad average. is still pretty low down on his ELO rankings.
So the baseline is that there's very little evidence that amongst people who should know better, picking up Anger helps them win.
Anger and Act 1
There's a common argument about Anger, which is that "it helps you through act 1, and then later it scales with strength builds". But I think this ignores the downside of that, which can be subtle.
The first is player time. Imagine two strategies: one strat reliably gets you to act 3, and then has a 50% chance of beating the boss. The other strat has a 50% chance of killing you in the first battle of act 1, but if you win you are guaranteed to beat the game. Both strats have the same win rate. But which is the better strat?
Well, I'd argue that strategy 2 is *hugely better
... keep reading on reddit β‘We've all probably seen the r/loseit posts from people who are frustrated that they waited so long to lose weight, annoyed that it took several tries, or upset to have regained some or all of their weight. There are also plenty of people who had to try lots of different eating styles or experiment with different active hobbies before finding what worked for them. Rather than focus on the negatives, now that you made it and you're in maintenance, what are you thankful for in your weight loss or maintenance journey? It could be setting yourself back into a deficit after a period of gain, finding the style of eating that worked for you, not quitting the search and finding a sport that invigorates you instead of feeling like a chore, anything that takes your fancy and makes you grateful to have ended up where you are now!
Anything else on your mind pertaining to maintenance? Is your diet going effortlessly, or have the last few weeks been more of a struggle? All questions, remarks and worries are welcome topics of conversation!
We are testing out a new submission method! See the link before. Any feedback is appreciated!
#Introduction The song spotlight is a recurring topic on this subreddit, where every week we will feature a different song included in the game or its DLC and discuss things like how to play its different riffs, techniques to focus on and more casual things like some interesting trivia or the artist's other work. Finally we'll conclude with a score attack challenge, a random entrant of which will be offered to choose the next song.
The format will change depending on feedback and participation, so don't hesitate to send suggestions myself or the mods in general.
>This is probably my favorite Oasis song. From the album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (great album btw). This song is usually overshadowed by the other 2 big singles on the album Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. But this song shows off everything great about Oasis.
>This song is a clinic as far as guitar techniques go. There are a lot of basic chord and rhythm techniques that can be applied everywhere. There's double stops, some good lead licks, bends, unisons. It's all pretty useful. The lead is straight A minor pentatonic (song is in C). Nothing here is devilishly hard but there is a lot of techniques you'll need to be able to play.
>At the end of the day, this is a good song to practice. Lots of things to learn from it.
#Score Attack Challenge Submit your score attack results by filling out this google form and including your score and a screenshot of the results screen you see after your playthrough. A readable photo of your screen is fine too. The form will need to be completed for each submission.
Scores will be included at the bottom of next week's spotlight divided based on the difficulty level (you can play any difficulty you'd like) and are tracked separately for lead, rhythm and bass.
A random entrant will get to pick next week's song!
Scores can be submitted until Sunday, February 23rd at 17:00 UTC.
