Sorry if this is somehow off-topic, I thought my question would belong here better than anywhere else.
I am a hobbyist writer who just started working on a novel that features a Finnish family. I could easily come up with names for all of them with an online random name generator, but as I know nothing about the Finnish language and its names, I don't want to end up writing ones that don't sound authentic to a native speaker.
The question is, what are some of the most common names and surnames I can put together in a way that they sound Finnish enough, and is there any rule I have to follow in order to come up with a full name? (I read somewhere that everyone has a name, a middle name and a surname).
For now the only character I've created is called Antti JΓ€rvinen, but I'm not sure how authentic it might sound to a native Finnish speaker. Can someone who knows the language give me some advice?
EDIT: Typo
Does anybody have any ideas? We want it to be unique, but not outlandish. We have a little over a month to decide. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
The high prevalence of people named Smith in Britain and its former colonies presumably attests to a large population of smiths at some point in time. Likewise, the large number of MΓΌllers in Germany and Switzerland (also Melnik - miller - in Ukraine) would suggest that these places once had more millers than any other profession. If so, why should Britain have more Smiths than Millers, and Germany more MΓΌllers than Schmidts?
My statistics were sourced here: https://mymodernmet.com/most-common-surnames-map/
Guess that makes them the "Smiths" of DnD.
