Should we/how much to charge for footage being used by broadcast programme.
Hey everyone, so we shot some footage last summer of our local area for the local authority (in the UK) for a tourism project. The raw footage remains ours/our copyright (the local authority only owns the final edited films we produced), we're now getting several requests for broadcast programmes to use the footage.
The local authority are fine with it being distributed (free advertising for them) but obviously we have possession of it.
We've never had a request like this before, my question is should we be charging them for use of the footage and if so how does one calculate that? I don't want to be dishing out free footage to larger production companies forever but also don't want to be charging silly money for it either. We're in the UK.
