So the Conservatives are unhappy that David Johnston allowed Maxime Bernier in the debates. They accuse Trudeau of his "hand-picked debate panel":
>“It’s no big surprise that Justin Trudeau‘s hand-picked debate panel used a Liberal-friendly pollster who attacks Andrew Scheer to ultimately justify Mr. Bernier’s attendance at the debate.”
However, it was Stephen Harper that picked David Johnston to become the Governor General designate in 2010. Stephen Harper said of this of David Johnston at the time:
>“David Johnston represents the best of Canada,” said the Prime Minister. “He represents hard work, dedication, public service and humility. I am confident he will continue to embody these traits in his new role as the Crown’s representative in Canada.”
So David Johnston represents the best of Canada according to Harper or he doesn't. Which is it Conservatives?

I visited Ottawa last week and took a tour of the governor general's residence. One room had these panels with the escutcheons of every French, British, and Canadian governor general. I hope the quality is good enough to make most of them out.
I was surprised to see that apparently Samuel de Champlain's blazon was just Azure.

Queen Elizabeth usually meets with the PM on Tuesday evenings, and King George VI met Churchill for lunch on Mondays during the war. Is there a similar regular meeting between the Canadian Prime Minister and Governor-General?
