Are double last names/surnames popular and become more common in your country?

In my country, Lithuania, I noticed that double last names/surnames among married women, especially female public figures -- are becoming more common nowadays and I think double last names are now popular among married women. Double last names among men are rare.

So I wonder are double last names not just popular but become more common in your country nowadays?

Prue is the most WASPy of the Sisters in both appearance and mannerism. Halliwell is a traditional English surname and Prue is a common Anglo Saxon first name esp in the New England region.......

Any coincidence behind Shannen's character being the most traditionalist WASP of all the sisters? Shannen's features are ideal British and Irish beauty standards with blue-green eyes and quite a strong face esp those (lovely high cheekbones!!!!) and being a pale brunette to boot.

The most educated of the sisters and with the most conservative values.......... As well as having almost all the stereotypical Middle Class American girl upbringing such as status as the hot cheerleader every guy was horny after and class president, etc.

Halliwell is practically an old fashion last name found across the English speaking world. Prue is a classic in Anglo-Saxon countries and is esp common in the New England region (Salem Witch Trials?)

Even the way she talks in public and with people other than her sisters, Penny and Patty along with Victor, and Andy (later Daryl can be added to the list) is often formal and businesslike, a typical mark of the educated Republican. Before Season 3 and outside of perv Kern and studio trying to insert fanservice, she tended to dress the most formal and for the first whole season almost every episode had her in business suite.

So am I alone in seeing any symbolism in this? Because honestly Prue is as WASPish as a typical pre-1960s American can get. Even discounting her conservativeness and status as matriarch of the group until her death, Prue carries herself around in a manner that is more found among the Upper Middle Class and Upper Classes of America.

What do you think?

ΒΏHow common are Basque Surnames in your country?

A little list, obviously not all of them:

ZΓΊΓ±iga, Zubieta, ZΓ‘rate, Zamudio, VizcaΓno, Vergara, Veloza, Velazco, VelΓ‘squez, Velandia, Vargas, Valenzuela, Useche, UscΓ‘tegui, Urrutia, Uriza, Uricoechea, Mendoza, LeguizamΓ³n, GimΓ©nez, Goyeneche, Gorraiz, Godoy, Garay, Gaona, Gamboa, Galindo, Espitia, Eraso, Duarte, ChacΓ³n, Contreras, CΓ‘rdenas, Borda, BolΓvar, BohΓ³rquez, Bernal, Bayona, AtehortΓΊa, Ayala, AvendaΓ±o, ArΓ©valo, Araque, Amaya, Aguirre, Ibarra, Iriarte, Mendieta, Mojica, MuΓ±Γ³z, Olave, Olano, Orozco, Ortega, OrtΓz, Ospina, OtΓ‘lora, Ricaurte, SuescΓΊ

Here they are too fucking common, while this is backed historically, since basques went a lot to Antioquia and the southern cone, specially Chile, i wonder if elsewhere this surnames are common

also basques are believed to form a secret aristocracy that controls the continent but letΒ΄s ignore that

If the suffix -son in names refers to being the son of [Insert Name], does that mean the original cultures that uses this don't have a common family surname?

For example:

John -> James Johnson -> Andrew Jamesson -> Michael Andrewson -> etc.

Most names with -son are simply first names added to them, mainly Jack, Jeff, John, James, [another name with a J], Donald, Ander, Harry, Lars, etc. Was it likely to be similar to Spanish/Latino culture where somebody has multiple names based on, I think, the moms of previous generations (I'm sure I'm wrong about that, but I know I was taught something about it in school).
