A list of puns related to "List of art pop musicians"
Edit: Headphone warning at 3:19 for link 3.
Hello.
I was taking a look at Fall Out Boy's first album, Take This to Your Grave, and I thought it was interesting how unrefined Patrick Stump's voice was. It's not bad or anything; there's just a pretty stark difference between this...
...and their next studio album (you already know what song this is)...
...which I believe goes beyond just better production and more experienced songwriting. I read somewhere that he took lessons during this time period while he hadn't before, but I can't find whether that's true or not.
So anyway, what are some examples of musicians, either individuals or collectives, that you feel dramatically improved in technical ability within a very short period of time, like within a year or two?
The only example I'm particularly familiar with is the entirety of Protest the Hero between 2003:
And 2004-2005:
Heard they intentionally wrote things they couldn't yet play and then just banged their heads against a wall for two years. But, again, can't find proof they ever said that.
Just to be clear, I know things like this can seem really subjective, but I want to stress that I'm not necessarily asking about genre shifts or albums you like better. I'm finding this hard to put into words, but I hope you know what I mean when I say "technical ability". I'm not trying to start an argument or anything. There's a lot of aspects and nuance to what makes a musician engaging, but I hope we can at least agree that people like Tosin Abasi or John Petrucci are technically better guitarists than, like, Tom DeLonge or Kurt Cobain or something, even if you like the music of the latter two more.

Hi, I've thought a lot about this Venus Square Pluto aspect, which I have and thought of the musicians I respect and like, and I found that a lot of them had this aspect and wrote some pretty sensational (and bitter) 'love' songs. I'm aware I'm isolating one aspect but all of these people have this aspect and it's just very striking to me Check it out; the list and examples:
Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWFv5ZoVET8
Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)

Eric Clapton (Various Classic Rock Bands)

Ville Valo (Lead singer of H.I.M.)

Thoughts?
I remember hearing and loving this song a bunch, but I can barely remember what the actual song was. Something indy sounding but with a good bassy beat under it? I mostly remember seeing the album art when it popped up on playlists. The artist may have been Canadian, with a name like Serena or Sierra? But don't quote me on that. And on the cover is her, wearing one of those wide-brimmed hats that every festival-going woman wore in the mid 2000s, possibly with her face obscured by the hat. I don't think it's Lana del Ray, but could be in that vein
Ahhh! I can't remember her name, any songs, or albums. All I remember is that she was/is a Japanese solo musician producing alternative music in the 90s. She kind of reminded me of Nico.
Her sound is quite unusual. It isn't J-pop or conventional rock, but something that could be roughly called underground art music.
(This artist isn't Jun Togawa, by the way.)
Any heads up you can give me on this musician would be greatly appreciated.
Iβve recently been introduced to art pop and I love it. Are there others you guys know and like?
Hi! My name is Ben Ricketts. I'm an art pop/electronic musician from north MS, and I will be playing at Banks Street Bar on Friday, March 15 at 9pm. Local acts Matron (indie rock/math rock) and Bruisey Peets (experimental pop) will be on the bill, too, as well as another touring artist from Virginia called Don Babylon (alt rock/garage rock). I made this Spotify playlist with a couple songs from all of us: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/59TDINeP1b2E5WheFfLL1u
Come hang out, listen to us all, and say hello. :)

So I just found out that Chris Evans was supposed to replace Adam Driver in the new movie House of Gucci starring Lady Gaga, and I kind of died at the possible crossover of one of the most well known Hollywood actors collaborating with one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
And now Iβm obsessed. Please help lmao
Hi!
As the title suggests, I sing classical music and opera. My comfortable range is an A2 up til about G#4. I'm more comfortable doing higher tessitura things for jazz, but not opposed to going low either. I'd say that my comfortable range for Jazz is about a B-flat2 up to a G4, so not a huge difference, but if there is belting or anything involved, I can't be risking going higher than G.
We can discuss tessitura and the like over messaging! I have a lot of time to devote to learning things and have a good mic to record works on.
Even though admittedly a lot of Art Pop songs ended up on our Art Rock list seems we hit another varied mix of songs here.
Please note some high rated songs didn't make it because 1.) An artist had another song that ranked higher or 2.) A song had appeared on a previous playlist
Youtube Playlist
Spotify Playlist
Please feel free to discuss the songs that did and didn't make the playlist.
Voting continues to determine which genres we do next. Voting will close on Midnight.
Also if anyone would like to setup the playlist in Apple Music and Google Play it'd be much appreciated
Just a rant ig.
I truly believe that all forms of music are worthy of praise, discussion, and value; but I just donβt care for money making music made by big corporations trying to sell a cute face. And then thereβs so much good music that is just pushed out by this overwhelming money making craze that is the production industry.
Then again, a lot of the stuff going around in Hip Hop rn is pretty innovative.
low key, itβs the white pop synth country that drives me nuts
Thank you to those that sort by new.
