So, a local authority thinks something is fishy about Biff's betting practices, and investigates him, after some nosing around, the authorities discover his Almanac from the future.

Would the authorities be able to do anything? Would it be seen as cheating of some kind?

Ankyla's Almanac of Amazing Artifacts [OC]

https://imgur.com/GulgCV2

Introducing Ankyla's Almanac of Amazing Artifacts, a supplement book made by the people, for the people.

Inside you will find:

  • List of (300) new magical items
  • Lore on each item
  • Where one might find them
  • How much they're worth
  • How one might go about crafting one
  • Tables for random loot

So I'm not much of a writer (I prefer graphic design; hence the book cover mock-up) but I've had this idea for a while now and I just want to get it out there.

Basically this book would be built by our community. We would all submit our favorite home brew magic items and shove them into this book.

Some basic rules:

  • 5e rules

  • I'm using the term artifact to cover all things that are magical. Go wild with your designs. May thay be weak, powerful, or just weird.

  • Concider what your item is. What does it look like? Where did it come from? What's its story? How much would it be worth? Could someone build it? Though, when writing its story, you should be vague enough that it could fit into any setting.

Once I have enough designs together, I think a process of balancing is in order. So if this picks up, eventually I will start a balancing process involving the community. Essentially your group will be assigned an item to test until it feels good. So don't be to afraid of your designs right now, we'll figure it out.

The book layout will be in similar fashion to official D&D 5e supplemental books where the author comments on certain things (Ankyla in this case.)

I'm aiming for 300 unique designs

The wonderful u/neiderhauser77 has decided to go out of their way to build a google sheet for the project!

I will still be going through the comment thread for designs but otherwise please submit your designs to this sheet (please put your design in the appropriate section):

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MCN9OM4R_1TPk6HzZu_6XHgjzUME7B_Hjidkrb4TfoI/edit?usp=sharing

One last thing. This is a friendly endeavour. Don't go messing with other people's designs.

Thanks to u/LtWilhelm, AAAA now has an official discord!

https://discord.gg/AcQvugj

TLDR: Make a 5e magic item, explain its rules, what it looks like, where it came from, how much it costs, and if one could craft it. Then post it in the sheet linked above or in the comments below. Have fun!

[OC] 2019-2020 NBA Almanac.

2019-2020 NBA Almanac

What if I told you Reggie Miller is the reason this book exists?

Let me take you back to the Spring of 1998 where the Chicago Bulls are playing the Indiana Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. I am 8 years old and nervously watching, hoping my beloved Bulls can escape from Indianapolis with a convincing 3-1 series lead. I have already sat through a roller-coaster of emotions and seen my idol Michael Jordan leave the game after getting elbowed in the head only to see him return with steri-strips above his right eye. I then watched in horror as the dynastic Bulls squandered an eight point fourth quarter lead culminated by Scottie Pippen missing two free throws with Bulls up by 1 with less than 5 seconds to play.

All these events would set up a moment which would change my feelings towards the sport of basketball for the rest of my life. Following the missed free throws by Pippen, Reggie Miller would hit a game winning 3 point shot to put the Pacers ahead 96-94 and all but secure a 2-2 series tie heading back to Chicago. As Miller’s shot swished through the net, tears began to flow from my eyes instantaneously. I yelled out at the TV to the referees that they had missed Miller pushing off on Jordan before the inbound pass. How could they miss an obvious offensive foul at such a critical moment? I was inconsolable. β€œHe pushed off!” I cried throughout the ensuing timeout as if I was sitting courtside at Market Square Arena and those same refs could hear me amongst the raucous Pacer fans. With 0.7 seconds left, the tears went from a dripping tap into a burst water pipe when MJ’s potential game-winning double-clutch three point attempt spun out after being half down the hoop. To this day that shot remains the cruellest miss I’ve ever witnessed in a basketball game.

I don’t remember how long I cried in my Mothers arms afterwards but I do remember watching SportsCenter on repeat that night and reading the Philadelphia Inquirer the next morning, reliving the nightmare as Miller’s clutch heroics were praised and the push off was ignored as if it never happened. I felt unfairly treated over something which did not involve me nor had anything to do about me. I had no control over the ending of this game and felt helpless all at once. I remember thinking to myself why do I feel this strongly? Little did I know Reggie Miller had just spark

PvZ2: Can i unlock Almanac entries for Arena-specific zombies by defeating them outside of the Arena (i.e. Practice Room)?

Returning player here.

  1. As per the question, Cardio Zombie and Z-Mech in the Arena is too tough for me to defeat. From my research i understand Cardio Zombie has a buff that corresponds to the League you are in. Do Z-Mech and Caketank also enjoy a buff like Cardio Zombie do?
  2. More importantly, can i unlock their Almanac entries by defeating them in Travel Log Quests, specifically the Practice Room (where they are not buffed ie at Base HP)?
  3. By killing them i assume it means their Phase 3 form? Or do i also have to deplete their healths completely in each Phase (i understand they don't technically die in Phase 1/2 but simply go away and return later)?

I stopped playing for a few months just so i could demote myself to the lower leagues where their buffs aren't too overpowering. Now i'm waiting for them to come back.

Lastly, is it obnoxious of me to tag Haemophilus_EA? I do not wish to abuse his goodwill and generosity because i can see he tries his best answering fellow players' question, but i'm just wondering if i can get an "Official" answer. (I have not tagged him yet.)
