A list of puns related to "List of Virtual Console games for Wii U (PAL region)"
Because the Wii Shop Channel is being phased out, it's a good idea to check this list and see if there are any games you want to buy before they're no longer available.
Unless they're added to a version of the Switch Virtual Console before the Wii Shop Channel service ends, none of these titles will be available for download on any Nintendo platform.
Additionally, some of these games (such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3) will be unavailable in their original form from any download service. (PSN has the PlayStation version that has the loading lag and Steam has the remastered version with inferior graphics).
Some titles that are were previously unique to the Wii (Like Metal Slug 3) are not on this list because they were released as part of the Arcade Archives line on the Switch.
Additionally, this list is only accurate for the North American Virtual Console services.
Edit - Updated to exclude titles available on 3DS via the 3D Classics line. Thanks, /u/ssj_bill_clinton!

Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of /u/Mechageo's list: link here I'm talking about a list that lists each game by platform, with each game's developer, price, and other platforms it can be played on, with notes on differences from other versions and alternate names, etc. These last two I think would be a great resource for players who aren't planning on getting a certain system, but are interested in playing some of these games and want to be a little frugal. Would there a demand for that sort of thing? Please let me know down below, along with any suggestions. Thanks!
I honestly didnβt know the Wii U had so much content for a console that was commercially spoken as a failure.
For the younger fans looking to explore the past and older fans wanting to take a trip down nostalgia lane here is a cheap, legal and easy way to play through all of Linkβs thrilling adventures.
Here are the available games:
Legend of Zelda The Adventure of Link Zelda A Link to the Past Ocarina of Time Majoraβs Mask The Minish Cap Wind Waker Phantom Hour Glass Spirit Tracks Skyward Sword Twilight Princess Hyrule Warriors Breath of the Wild
Some could call the Wii U a βLink to the Pastβ.
Have a great day fellow reddit people :)
I mostly got the Wii U for its extensive library of emulated titles from various consoles like the NES, 64, Wii, Gamecube, etc. But I've heard that most of these games can't be played by any controllers aside from the gamepad. Has anyone found any controllers from 8bitdo that work for most games?
I need files that have already been modified to be installed as virtual console games. I have iso files, but I'm not able to convert them using the TeconMoon method. Is there a source for gamecube files that have already been modified?
Iβm reading that many of the VC nes/snes games are laggish especially with precision games like punch out. Some act as if itβs no big deal, and others say certain games are unplayable. Some say the problems are with NES and N64 games, but not SNES. There is differing opinions, so before I buy these games what are your own experiences with the VC games?
I wanted: Ninja Gaiden 2-3, Contra 3, DKC 2-3, Final fight 2-3, Super Punchout, Megaman 2, 3, X Which games run best?
I just want to play those games and the gameplay feel reasonable as it once did on the snes/nes.
If itβs that bad are there virtual console game recommendations? I read the GBA, and DS games run much better.

Update: Did a few tests
Final Fight One GBA- controls were best of all but the music threw me off.
SNES: Final fight 2- Was a hair off at certain points. But no real problem. Super punch out, DK country 1-3, Link to the past - No problem.
NES: Ninja Gaiden 2- Was almost as precise as I remember on NES. Was also slightly dark but nothing to bad.
Hi, I was thinking about the Wii virtual console the past few days. Looking back on it, I never realized how much it showed me the world of gaming, breaking me out of my "modern" Nintendo bubble for the first time in my life, and I wanted to talk about my experience with the service for a little bit.
So for context, I'm currently 24 years old. I was born in '97, so my years growing up were mainly the 2000s and early 2010s. I was strictly a Nintendo-only gamer for that entire time, as I got a Nintendo 64 as a hand-me-down as a child, then a GameCube and Wii (along with the GBA SP and DS) followed years after. I pretty much played exclusively Mario and Sonic games (their respective franchises, not the olympic games) during this whole time... with some exceptions here and there, but those are the 2 franchises I remember playing most. My memory is hazy, but I know my parents originally only had dial-up internet with one family computer. All the times I spent were looking at Mario stuff, talking about Mario, and so on. I believe I got the Wii as a present for my birthday in April 2007, along with WarioWare Smooth Moves + Sonic and the Secret Rings which both released in early 2007 so that's why I'm pretty sure it was 07. The Wii was the first console I remember being explicitly excited for since the N64, GameCube, GBA and DS I have no memory of specifically wanting. Mario Galaxy was the main reason I wanted it.
Anyway, the Wii was also my first console that had internet/online capability (Not counting the DS). Naturally, the idea of the Wii Shop Channel fascinated me. Buying stuff on my Wii to get more games without needing to wait for my parents to take me to GameStop? Sign me up. A whole new library of games was opened up to me thanks to the virtual console, and all of them were games I either never heard of, or hardly knew. Naturally, the earlier Mario and Sonic games I never got to play intrigued me the most, and so those were the ones I gravitated towards to first. Mario 1, 2, 3, World, Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles... All of them being games I experienced for the very first time on the Wii. It was then that I came to the realization that these older games are really fun, and I was personally interested in the history of the franchises I've liked all this time. It gave me the chance to truly expand my horizons and go beyond anything I could dream of. There's no way my parents would buy me expensive secondhand consoles like a SNES or NES, so the occass

My wife are about to buy it but I have to make sure.
I've been hurt before.
I paid the 1000 points for 1080 Snowboarding on the old Wii Shop Channel back in the day, did the Wii to Wii U data transfer upon getting my Wii U so I could access it (and my other VC games) from Wii mode.
I paid the upgrade fee for most of my VC games as they became available on the Wii U eShop, but never got around to doing that for a few games. Earlier today I paid the $2 to get 1080 off the eShop, logged in to My Nintendo and saw that I got 10 gold points (edit: mistakenly called them "coins") for my purchase.
So for anyone on the fence of paying $1.50 to $2.00 to upgrade their Wii VC games for Wii U, this should provide some incentive.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Since a lot of the best Wii U games have been ported to the Switch a lot of the Wii U library seems redundant at this point. But what titles can you only get on a Wii U and are considered good games?
On the Virtual Console side many of the best games from the NES and SNES have by now been released on the NES/SNES Classic Mini, so it's no point getting them on the Wii U. But what VC games is worth checking out?
Nintendo should make an effort to reward their most loyal fans that bought the Wii U despite its many shortcomings and lack of popularity, and I think the least they could do is let us have our Virtual Console library transferred over, at no extra charge. The discount for ports probably won't happen, but it'd be great to not have to pay full price for games we already own again.
Come on Nintendo, throw us a bone here! We stuck through your worst console generation since the Virtual Boy, so it'd be great to show your fans the appreciation they deserve.
I've downloaded a bunch of virtual console and eshop games on my wii U. When those programs shut down, will I still have the games I had downloaded previously.
And what system was it originally released on back in the day?
I am not a big turn-based RPG fan, but recently loved the Octopath demo on Switch and accidentally heard the Chrono Trigger soundtrack last night when I was listening to the ALTTP soundtrack while playing BotW and it auto-played the Chrono soundtrack next. Needless to say it blew me away and now I want to play Chrono Trigger... It's not on Wii U virtual console? What gives?
Octopath showed me that I can like turn based RPG games if they are done right and I feel like Chrono Trigger might be one of those games.

Are there any downloadable Wii U eShop games that can use the Wii U gamepad/pro controller instead of the Wii remote? Wondering if Nintendo bothered to map any of these downloadable Wiii game to use the Wii U controllers?

We can download current gen Wii-U games and Wii games and N64 Virtual console games. What makes Gamecube the lost generation?
The 3DS has GB and GBC games, so why coudlnt the Wii U? Wii U got GBA and N64 games which take up more powwe, so it obviously has the resources to emulate GB and GBC games.
For example, will I be able to play skyward sword, mario kart wii, wii sports, mario galaxy, and house of the dead with the zapper in the same way I could play on the wii but on the Wii u?
I just got a gamecube again and was going to get a wii and wii u but if I can have the full experience of the wii on the wii u, I will only need one sensor bar.
Thoughts? What are some pros and cons to this idea? I'm not super knowledgeable about nintendo stuff.
