I find many conversations on race relations or ethnic conflicts tend to draw back to pointing at white supremacy but in my opinion this is ignorant, as it is a western eurocentric sort of view that completely ignored ethnic conflicts in non-european environments with minimal European influence, especially when the situation in question involves a majority demographic that feels oppressed or harmed by a minority
I know Lenin and Stalin had a position on National minorities having some degree of cultural autonomy while renouncing separatism (like the Georgian question or the Zionist question) but the role of complex inspection of ethnic relations seems to have been increasingly ignored in socialist circles
In many ways the relation of Hutus and Tutsis could be compared to that of European-Americans and minorities in America (Jewish-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, African-Americans)
So in the spirit of preventing ethnic violence or anti-social KKK type outbursts from European-Americans, what could be done to improve ethnic relations?
Before someone says how "race isn't real", let's think how that approach would have worked in Rwanda if Hutus were told they had no heritage other than a black skin color and only Tutsis had a history due to being a minority
