I am mainly speaking about selfmade people like Gates and Bezos. Most of the net worth of this kind of people come from their extremely successful businesses. Money is tied to them. To be actually have all the money, they would have to sell their company.
Of course they have gotten help building their company but It's their idea and they have builded it from the ground up. They have really struggled and put effort in it and been smart hiring new people. They really have done everything right though All these companies have questionable policies and they could be more ethical.
I can't expect these people to sell their companies because some people think giving 10 million to charity isn't enough because you are worth of billions.
Their companies are still growing. They could sell them to have the money to charity, but then the person who buys the company would make the profit and could mismanage it.
I wish that all the world's billionaires kept their total net worth in the form of gold bullion bars stored in giant Richie Rich-style vaults.
