Platform(s): Commodore 64 or maybe Atari
Genre: Don't remember
Estimated year of release: 1980s
Graphics/art style: Don't remember
Notable characters: Don't remember
Notable gameplay mechanics: Don't remember
Other details: I usually remember the games (and their music) I played as a kid. Recently I heard Schubert's Marche Militaire No 1, and recalled that there was a game I played in the 80s that played this tune. It took me a lot of effort but eventually I recalled it was the equestrian event from Summer Games II. However this made me realize that there is another song that comes to my mind from time to time, and it has been years without recalling in what game I heard it, so I might need some help to identify it because I won't be able to do it on my own.
So I did my best to try to play the sound from my head, it's most likely off key, but it resembles the tune in my head.

Somebody remembers a game that played this little song before the start of the game?
To be honest, I am now curious to solve this mystery, as well. I'm a more enthusiastic gamer than he is and I have no answers for him. Help.
Edit: I'm gonna hand this thread over to my husband, himself, at u/lwmg4life
My husband has vague memories of a game on the Commodore 64. It's from the late 80's/early 90's -- he says it had "newer" looking graphics, so he thinks it must've been one of the Commodore's later games.
It's a scifi, sidescrolling platformer -- hopping around on ladders and platforms in a mechanical place like a space ship.
One (or more?) set of levels had your little guy jumping and climbing over acid pools on the floor. He says this was the part of the game he could not beat.
He is pretty sure the little guy you play shot some kind of space weapon or gun.
He would recognize the game if he saw a screenshot or video of actual gameplay, but he has no memory of what the cover art on box looked like.
My only experience with the Commodore 64 was educational games on school computers - at home, I grew up with IBM-Compatibles like the Dynalogic Hyperion.
If I wanted to get an emulator to relive those nostalgic days, I wouldn't have any clue what any of the games were called. Surely there can't be that many educational games for the C64? The one that sticks out in my mind was some kind of pixelated circus, where you had to get a guy to swing between ropes at the right timing, or you had to shoot a guy out of a cannon through a gap between walls by dialing in the angle and velocity, stuff like that all in one game. It was extreeeeemly simple graphics - just blocks and lines and your imagination, no actual rasters or designs at all. A quick google search of "circus game commodore" leads up a bunch of circus games, but they're all too detailed to be the one I'm thinking of. No idea what it was called though.
Mine was Karateka
Platform(s): Commodore 64/128
Genre: Exploration
Estimated year of release: 1980s or early 1990s
Graphics/art style: simple 3d vector
Notable characters: no characters?
Notable gameplay mechanics: walking around aimlessly
Other details: Played this around 1993 on a Commodore 128. Not sure if it was a game or a demo/experimental thing. As I remember it, you load the program and you are in a extremely simple 3d world. You walk in any direction and after walking for 2 minutes you'll run into random objects like an antenna looking thing made out of like 10 lines and you could walk around it.
In my mind this is pretty much all there was to it. But it was kind of neat because it gave off the same vibes as Minecraft where it felt like you were exploring a vast world. There might've been more of a game to it I wasn't aware of.
This is kind of how I remember the game looking. Maybe/probably there weren't actual grid lines on the ground. The ground was flat. Not sure what the actual colors were, but I remember the lines being white and I think the background was a light color, not dark.

Okay so this is from a long time ago and I don't remember much. Graphics were very pixelated. You were driving a car, first person, steering wheel in view. If i remember correctly you were only driving at night and the game had something to do with vampires. You were either running away from them or running them over or maybe both. I don't even remember if i was playing this on pc or on TV on some console. That's all i remember. Not much but maybe someone knows what game it is. At the time i was playing it i was like 7yo. Almost 30 now so yeah.
I don't remember much about the game because I was just a kid but what I do remember was that there was 2 rounds to each turn. The first round you would answer trivia questions about whales or other ocean life. Pretty sure they were multiple choice. I remember one of the questions was about plankton because I distinctly recall having to ask my mom what plankton was LOL.
The second round you were shown an ocean grid and you controlled a whale. (I don't even think it looked like a whale, just a dot on the grid, The "graphics" were underwhelming, even by mid-80's standards.) I think you got to move a certain number of spaces each turn based on how well you answered the trivia questions in the previous round. The goal was to make it to a whale sanctuary in the upper left corner. I think there was a whaling boat chasing after you and if you didn't reach the sanctuary in a certain number of turns you would get harpooned.
Hope this wasn't all some weird fever dream, thanks in advance!
