Basically the title. I realize though my Mandarin is at a B2 level, I still need to learn what actual names of dishes and ingredients are.
E.g. Teriyaki chicken, butter chicken, green curry, pizza, sushi, BLT, bibimbap all have their own unique namesβ¦
But Chinese food is always full on with the description like:
Pork wonton in hot and spicy soup
Fermented cabbage and pork steamed bun
Roast duck and bamboo shoot soup
Sweet and sour pork
Black bean sauce beef on sizzling plate
Ich dachte Toast hawaii wΓ€re dabei, wurde immerhin von einem deutschen erfunden (WIMRE). Ich kenne eigentlich auch nur das und Karlsbader Schnitte. Welche Gerichte mit Brot kennt ihr so?
I cook a fair bit at home, part hobby part save cost.
But i notice that the spices in Giant is not cheap, and not very good quality also.
Anyone knows where got cheaper and same quality? Like say peppercorn, chilli flakes, cumin, garlic powder etc.
Hello r/chinesefood!
Recently, I've been really missing home. I typically go back to China (Heilongjiang) once a year and these last few years have just been impossible for obvious reasons. I've been looking online everywhere for cookbooks or recipes on making chinese dishes since I am not the most familiar with how to prepare anything besides dumplings and smaller dishes and I'm desperately missing home right now! Looking at all the recipes and trying to find "authentic" ones have been super difficult and overwhelming, I find a hard time trusting a lot of what I see. Another problem is that I don't even know what the dishes I miss are called since I grew up outside of China.
Anyone know where to point me to the right direction? Thank you all <3
China Evergrande Group (3333.HK), market cap HKD 29.8 bil ($3.82 bil) - a well known story. Allegedly dodged default three times, but our good friend Dr. Marco Metzler has a different story to tell.
Kaisa Group Holdings (1638.HK), market cap HKD 7.3 bil ($940 mil) - the company's offer to exchange its $400 million of dollar notes maturing Dec. 7 for new ones due 18 months later expires in London today at 4 pm. Investors holding more than half of the notes are not willing to support the exchange offer, according to a letter from a financial advisor that represents some of the bondholders.

Clues in the name
I'm pretty sure I've come across 95% of the translated manhua in this genre.
I've included a list, but if you know any others, please please let me know (I've gone down the rabbithole and I am insatiable).
Bonus if the manhua has a lot of chapters (or is complete!!!)
A list of the ones I've read/am aware of:
If it's not on the list I will check it out.
Thank you!!
I always see things like sirloin steak and mushroom omlete on the Chinese takeaway menus. Has anyone ever gone for one of these and was it any good?
S1: Andrewβs βAbsoluteβ Penne.
S2: Pollyβs undone focaccia bread (Gordon would rather eat poodle shit).
S3: Vinnieβs chorizo crusted pink snapper that was too hot. He even argued with Gordon.
S4: Mattβs exotic tartare.
S5: Sethβs ratatouille lamb with honey, where he laughed and was threatened with elimination.
S6: Melindaβs poached lobster tail without the lobster tail.
S7: Nilkaβs hot wings in which she used half a bottle of Tabasco.
S8: Antoniaβs Mardi Gras Gumbo, where Gordon threw up.
S9: Jonathanβs punch-drunk chicken in which he used canned pineapple and gave an excuse where he didnβt have enough time to cut a pineapple.
S10: Tavonβs shrimp, scallops, and crab over Fettuccine Alfredo with Whiskey-infused sauce, which was a hideous mess (IMO looked worst than Rajβs seafood and vegetable pancake).
S11: Susan's lamb and couscous in which she served it raw.
S12: Mikeβs store-brought tortellini and canned sauce. He even talked shit behind Gordonβs back and was threatened with elimination.
Basically, what the main quesion says.
I have typed the all foods that I know how to cook, along with the list of ingredients.
I want to make my shopping efficient.
So if for the next week, I want to make dish 1, dish 4, dish 5, and dish 11, I want to be able to select the dish names, and I get a list of ingredients that I need to make these dishes.
Then I can check my pantry and see what I need to buy.
It was a very simple dish made from chicken (it was cut up and I got it on small wooden sticks), it had a sweet and mild tasting sauce. I don't know the name of this dish but i really like it so I've been trying to find the name and possibly recipes for it.
Someone has suggested that it was a sweet and sour sauce but the taste was really mild and I don't remember it tasting sour at all. It was just sweet.
I know that's not too much to go on but anything similar or that could possibly be what I'm looking for would be a great help. I haven't tried a lot of Chinese food other than this so I'm also really bad at recognizing any other flavors from the sauce.
