In survivor, especially modern seasons, we see older women being screwed over by people perceiving them as their ‘island mothers’. People are then hurt more than they would be by their ‘mothers’ voting them out. They’re unfairly forced into the position of being expected to be loyal and never backstab, which is impossible in the modern game of survivor. We then see this ruin the ‘mothers’ chances at FTC. There are prime examples of this and I hope to elaborate more on each of them.

Dawn Meehan (Survivor: Caramoan)- Dawn had come out of Survivor: South Pacific not long before the filming of Caramoan. In between the time she was mugged in NYC and lost some of her teeth. She wears a retainer. Coming into Caramoan she had lost South Pacific due to her inabilities to play for herself and make moves. With her new attitude of “do whatever it takes to win” she aligned with Cochran. Dominating the game together, Cochran and dawn controlled nearly every vote, and Dawn was the one that built the relationships to get herself there, which also got Cochran far. Fast forward we see dawn shrieking about losing her retainer. She calls Brenda (who saw her as ‘the mother) to get her retainer. Dawn get it back due to Brenda. Brenda is then blindsided by Dawn. Why? Because dawn came into play the game, not make friends. Cochran voted the exact same way and was a part of the blindside, and she had no ill feelings towards him. At FTC, Brenda asks dawn to take out her teeth to ‘relive’ what Brenda felt. She does it reluctantly only to not get Brenda’s vote. One last fastforward to the reunion where Brenda is on a video call at home, and they ask Dawn to apologize (for playing the game). This even brings Jeff into the stereotyping of the mother archetype.

Carolyn Rivera (Survivor: Worlds Apart)- Mama C. This one couldn’t be more obvious, they dubbed her the mother of the group. These people then get upset when she votes them out of the game. Let’s start this out with Carolyn finding an idol Day 1. She plays a strong physical game and a decent social game. Her ‘son’ Rodney Lavoie is the main reason she is the mother, as she reminds him of his mother. Carolyn wins a reward and doesn’t pick Rodney. This is more upsetting to him than it should be because that’s his ‘mom’ even if she doesn’t want to be. Carolyn uses her idol at final 6 to blindside Dan. This hurts people even more because again, that’s their mom that’s doing it. Carolyn has a very strong FTC speech but is against

Ordered some cashmere blend yarn from Knit Picks and the tracking originally said some time this week. Then it said today. Now it's saying by 8:30 tonight. EEEEEEE!!!! This is my first high-quality order/project not from a big chain store. Planning on making the Blue Heron shawl from Faerie Knitting by Lisa Hoffman (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/blue-heron-shawl) using Magnolia Heather 27664 from Knit Picks (https://www.knitpicks.com/yarn/capra-dk/c/5420109) for my sister. She get cold really easily and as a grade school teacher, she deserves a nice warm wrap when teacher, either in the classroom or at her kitchen table. Plus it will make a great present for her birthday in April.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
