A bad dog owner dumped this wolf-dog at a kill shelter when he got too big and too much to handle. Luckily a sanctuary took him instead and saved his life! His DNA testing came back as 87.5 % Gray Wolf, 8.6 % Siberian Husky, and 3.9 % German Shepherd.

Sunshine (9-10 yrs) spent her entire life as a "guard dog" at an auto repair shop. She was dumped at the shelter when they closed up shop for good. They said she's aggressive. Her poor little body is riddled with cancer now but we're gonna spoil her to bits to make up for the past.

One week ago I had to say goodbye to the most gentle soul I've ever known, my sweet old boy Humphrey. He was 15. He lived a long and happy life since I found him on Chamen's noticeboard as a "free to good home" dog 13 and a half years ago.

[WP] You are reincarnated as a dog in a shelter, however you remember your past life as a human. Then one day your past self shows up and adopts you and you realize you became your own dog and all of a sudden the way your dog behaved throughout your human finally life makes sense.
Never posted a prompt before. Feel free to give me feedback if it's not very good or whatever! I hope it's something somebody can work with.

Picasso was surrendered by his breeder for euthanasia because of a birth 'defect' that caused his twisted snout. Adopted by a shelter worker, he now lives a happy life as a therapy dog helping people with disabilities. He doesn't know he's different and how adorable that makes him!

[discussion] it is amazing seeing a dog grow into being comfortable as a dog and enjoy life more.
We adopted Alice a year ago back in March. The shelter had pretty much no information on her past. She was a ~2 year old ~20 lbs dog who was very gentle with kids is all we knew. She moved in and got comfortable quickly (she was asleep on her back with her eyes in the back of her head after just an hour at her new home. We quickly learned that she didn't know what toys, treats or bones were. We had gone the night before picking her up and bought one of every treat we could find so if she had a favorite she could play with it. She wouldn't touch them and was perfectly happy with just getting love. One day she saw me playing with my sister's dog and something clicked and she started to learn that toys are for playing with. She then started playing and now has a favorite toy that I have had to sew back up once already. Yesterday we came to spend the night at my moms she ran around the property while I walked around picking blackberries and she loved it, last year she didn't like them but this year she loved them. Then we had ribs and my mom gave her one. She used to eat the meat off of the bone and then leave them and I would save them for my sister's dog. Today she decided that chewing a bone sounds fun and chewed them like a dog does. It is just so nice seeing her grow into being a dog and being happy.

My husband saying his last goodbye to our old girl today. She lived to be 16 years old and lived on two continents and loved life as a city dog and a country dog. She saw me through college, bad boyfriends, finding the man of my dreams, moving to Europe, three kids and moving home again. RIP, Kya.

Real world fiction, Sad depressing story about a female dogs life, gets adopted, saves the families house/1 year old child from a robber and it ends with her pup getting murdered by the father of the house hold in an attempt to prove that there's no such thing as a soul.
I'm looking for a book about a female dog, the story is from the perspective of the female dog, we hear what she is thinking and communicating with other dogs.
(The animals can not communicate with humans, but can understand what they are saying)
Her life starts in a pound, and she gets adopted by a family. She ends up saving there house/1 year old child from a robber, and at the last quarter of the book the scientist father decides to use her pup in his since experiment to prove that there's no such thing as a soul he cracks open the pups skull and dissects the brain while it's still functioning, and barriers the pup in the back yard; The main protagonist dog then sits out side where her pup was berried thinking her pup is going to resurrect into a flower, but the butler of the house walks over to her and says
"I can't believe what they did to you after everything you did for them"
(May not be an exact quote I just remember it being worded like that)
after that she realizes that her pup was murdered and dies from starvation. The book is over all sad and depressing. I was 15 when I read this for an online class, I'm pretty sure it takes place around 1920-1970 in the US or Britain. I mainly remember the ending to the book because it made me cry for a few minutes. As for what it looked like it was a digital copy.

I never knew how much joy Princess could have brought into our life 5 years ago, such a sweet caring girl who loved every cat and dog she came into contact with. Today she passed as I came home from lunch to check on her. I already miss her so much, but at least I know sheβs not suffering anymore.

Just wondering if anyone out there remembers being an animal in a past life or does anyone know if animals and humans cross over into each otherβs life. Or if a dog is just reborn as a dog to work on its dog life?

There's something about Alucard what make him closer to Berserk universe than any other manga character... He is an anti hero mistreated as a child (like Guts) who at the end of his life sacrifice his humanity to claim almost God like power (like Griffith). On top of that, seems like he like dogs ;)
