During my russian lessons I found out that some words are quite similar to that in sanskrit, I researched a bit and to my surprise there are many words which are literally the same in both languages. There's definitely a cultural and historical link which is yet to be discovered.

Like it's only been 3 days since I did a Polish lesson but now I'm like "wow. Did I really know any of this?" Must be an off day for me.

Okinawan language lessons (Uchinaguchi)
I really want to learn some okinawan, whether it be northern, southern or any other region. I love the language and culture here and it would be awesome if I could learn some before I leave for school in Kyoto. If there any tutors that teach okinawan I would love to hear about it.
Note: Just wanna make this clear I’m assuming all the tutors will only teach in Japanese but I speak Japanese so that won’t be any issue!! Any tutors whether English or Japanese are perfect!!

If you’re an expat then you should know at least some of the local language, and if you stay long term then language lessons should be a mandatory part of getting residency.
Before anyone kills me I’m an expat myself, with a temporary residency in my new country and I speak the language at a super basic level.
Part of the reason I dislike being within the expat bubble is that there is a strong distaste for actually interacting with the local culture and language in any meaningful way beyond absolute necessities. I’ve so far only met a handful of foreigners here who can speak any of the local language and one of them doesn’t count as he’s got heritage from this country. In some cases they married local women, have kids here and have lived in the country for years with more than ample time to buy books, take lessons and learn. Yet they struggle to even read basic words.
I’d argue that learning even basic words is a necessary gesture of basic respect for the host country. And there should be far greater pressure on expats to demonstrate at least some attempts to learn the language for residency.
Foreign language lessons in bris?
Portuguese specifically! Online would be nice but open to in person too. I'm not quite a beginner but would be good to go over the basics for a refresh I imagine, has anyone got any recommendations?
