Or am I missing something?
The title is a bold statement, yet I would argue that it is true. The UK Labour party has not held power for 11 years, and will most likely not get a chance to regain power until they reach 14 years in opposition. But this is not a unique situation. The Labour party has for a long time been defined by its inability to gain and then keep power. This has resulted in a tory-dominated UK. Why is this the situation? What systemic issue is social democracy facing in the UK? What could be done to address it?
>The former Labour leader - who is no longer a Labour MP after being stripped of the whip - tweeted ahead of the vote: "Tonight I will oppose both compulsory vaccines for NHS staff, and the introduction of vaccine passports.
>
>"Both measures are counterproductive and will create division when we need cooperation and unity."
>
>MPs tonight voted to enact the mask-wearing measures, mandatory jabs for NHS staff and Covid vaccine passports.
>
>The Covid passport measure passed 369 votes to 126, despite the biggest Tory revolt of Boris Johnson's premiership.
I can understand his opposition to vaccine passports (lot of equity problems), but even Saagar has mentioned he supports a hard mandate on healthcare workers.
One of the responses to his tweet caught my attention.
>Compulsory vaccination for people who want to spend a lot of their time around around vulnerable and immunocompromised people (who generally don't get a say in the matter) seems like common sense actually.
Mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers is quite common. Every hospital and clinic I worked or volunteered at required me to even get the yearly flu vaccine.

this is just embarrassing. it's like they're trying to outdo that clownfest DSA conference. half of them are larping as communist revolutionaries. the other half are telling all the white men to stop raising their hands. All while eating each other alive like far lefties all too often do. christ. No wonder Tories can get away with being utterly incompetent, this is all they have to beat.
