Did germany ever award a knights cross of the iron cross medal to enlisted soldiers in WWII?
I've done some searching and nearly every citation i can find was awarded to an officer, many of them high level colonels and the like, some are pilots but of course these are still officers. For example in the US forces regular soldiers can and do win the medal of honor regularly. Whats different in WWII germany?

That footage was taken in 1944 in Yugoslavia and shows an armored train and specially trained grenadiers operating against partisans. A series of videos will be released that focuses on an important collection of originals containing material about Panzerzug Nr. 3 that had been unknown until now.
The first video in the series will be built around a translation of a combat report on operations in the polish campaign written by Panzerzug 3’s commander Rudoin Zettler. Then in follow up videos we’ll cover an in-depth report Zettler wrote in 1940 about the use of armored trains.
Here, as an introduction to this unique collection, we’ll focus on Zettler’s military resume and end the video with some more nice combat footage of an armored train in Russia from 1942.
