The most well-known comic opera, Il Barbire, features a lighthearted Bel Canto role for a high mezzo-soprano. Rosina, like Carmen, is sometimes sung by a Soprano, but works better with the richness of a mezzo voice. It is very much a coloratura role, featuring many leaps, runs and trills. Here, Joyce DiDonato does it effortlessly, yet powerfully.
From The Washington Herald, July 19, 1913.
In the morning of life
I was filled with ambition
To roam oβer the world
Β Β And see sights afar;
But somehow in age
I am prone to contrition
At missing the splendors
Β Β That shone in my star.
Many friends came around me
In moments of pleasure,
Who drank at my banquet
Β Β And laughed at my wit.
Yet when they had found
That I lost all my treasure
They left me in sorrow
Β Β And silence to sit.
The voice of the crowd
As it rung in my praises
Awakened a joy
Β Β I imagined would last.
But, alas, my ambition
Lies under the daisies
And the wrecks of my glory
Β Β Are strewn in the past!
I love Frank Muller, Jenna Lemia, George Guidall B.Taupin, and Santino Fontana. My tolerance for less than award winning narrators is very narrow due to a stimulus disorder. Need suggestions for a new great use of credit!
I can't get enough of deep dives into the minds of scary/crazy/murderous people, the deeper the better (I thought AP and Zombie were more interesting than The Collector.) I know there are a ton of non-fiction books written about serial killers and their psychology etc., but I'm mostly interested in fiction. Thanks in advance.
Rep. John Joyce, representing Johnstown and the 13th Congressional district, voted against pandemic relief for those in this district. Failing to put forth his own relief bill, or to co-sponsor any bill put forth by any other Republicans, Joyce instead chose simply to bash the efforts of Democrats in Congress to help struggling families, and to help reopen small businesses and schools. Complain all you want on your website Congressman, but the people of this district sent you to Washington to develop solutions, and you lack of providing ANY viable option demonstrates--more than anything else-that you are unfit to hold the office of Congressional Representative.
Here's the statement from Joyce's website:
https://johnjoyce.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=276
A simple reminder to Mr. Joyce: Johnstown WAS the poorest city in Pennsylvania PRIOR to the pandemic: our status has not been improved because of the virus.
We need a leader in Congress, fighting for the people of this district.
You, Mr, Joyce, are NOT that person.
On June 29, 2021, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3005, a bill focused on removing statues of 1) a Supreme Court Justice who wrote the Dred Scott decision which declared African-Americans were not citizens of the United States, and thus had no rights as Americans, and 2) to remove statues of anyone who served in the army of the Confederate States of America while those states were in rebellion against the United States. Read the bill here.
This is a simple bill: pull the statues and busts of those who fought for or supported slavery in the United States. There is no tricky language in this bill: it is straightforward. Any American that can read, that is not a racist, or is NOT a supporter of the Confederacy, would happily vote to remove these symbols of these men--these traitors to the United States.
John Joyce, R-PA, representing the 13th Congressional District that includes Johnstown, voted against this bill. You can see his vote 'Nay' here.
These is little to say about this other than John Joyce is an utter disgrace to this area, to the people who served this state during the Civil War, and to this nation. His reprehensible votes demonstrate he is neither a student of history nor a man with a conscience. He was willing to vote with the other 119 Republicans who voted 'Nay' on this bill who are themselves either racists or completely insensitive to the lives of so many, alive and dead.
Joyce wants to forget those who fought for this great cause, to keep the Union together, and to defeat the ugly, hateful idea of slavery in this nation. Certainly, if Joyce had to decide, he would no doubt have voted to secede. I'm certain Joyce would have applauded Dred Scott, as his primary goal in Congress seems to be how many times he can vote with the rest of the ignorant monsters in Congress that still support that former hater-in-chief, Donald Trump.
John Joyce does not deserve the office he holds: he does not deserve the respect given to those who represent our nation. If he wants to act this way, his time representing the people of the 13th District should come to an abrupt end, because we are not racist haters here.
Perhaps Joyce should consider moving to a state where he can live his racist, hateful values without pretense. Let's hope Joyce hasn't turned in his medical license: he'll need it come November, 2022.

Recently, a group of Republicans who still support democracy, created a organization known as the Republican Accountability Project. This goal of this organization is stated on their website:
As a Democrat, I am not normally drawn to any Republican groups or organizations, but I find this one focused on truth, not the lies we have heard far too often the past four years.
The RAP have put together a GOP Accountability Report Card to help others know the truth about which Republican office holders are working for democracy, and which ones are spreading lies.
John Joyce, a Republican representing the 13th District of Pennsylvania, is there is all his dishonest glory, spending his time in Congress supporting lies upon lies--not the people of this district.

If you think John Joyce supporting the lies of Trump and the GOP is helping the people of this district, then vote for him: if however, you think it is time Joyce and his lying friends take their lies elsewhere, find an alternate person to hold the office of U.S. Representative.
