Hi all -
I attended the SNL Dress Rehearsal with Jason Sudeikis hosting last night on October 23rd, 2021, via standby. While I was in line I read a lot of dress reports, so I wanted to write one of my own to detail my experience. I've personally always wanted to know the specifics of what gets cut in between dress and air, so I've done my best to note specific instances. This was my first viewing of SNL live.
Time In Line; Waiting; Getting To 8H I decided to attend the show on Thursday night. I arrived in New York on Friday morning, and came to 30 Rock at 9:35am to collect my standby reservation.
From 9:35am to 10:42am, I was getting to/in line/leaving 30 Rock with my standby card. I was between #110 and #120 for the standby queue. I then returned at 6:20pm Friday for the standby queue. I received my standby ticket on Saturday at 7:17am. I was between #40 and #49 in line.
I returned to 30 Rock on Saturday evening at 6:22pm EST, where we lined up in the NBC shop. I was through security at 7:16pm EST, then in my seat in 8H by 7:48pm EST. The show ended at 10:15pm, I was out of 30 Rock at 10:22pm.
In total, this experience required a little over 18 hours of time from start to finish.
Ghost of Biden Past Cold Open
- They removed Aristotle as Biden's aide - Aristotle originally introduced Jen Psaki.
- There was a bit with Kyrsten Sinema (played by Cecily Strong), which was removed from the live show. The bit was about Kyrsten opposing taxes on the rich, and listing a ridiculous number of demands to change her mind; then still opposing taxes even after Biden agreed to everything.
- Small Wording Changes
- They tightened up some of the wording around the "Hillary became awesome" joke.
- They tightened up some of the wording around the "Who are you? I'm Joe Biden from March 2021" joke.
Monologue - There was some minor crowd work that was removed; someone asked "How old are [your kids]" which led to the "I don't know how old they are" joke. - There was some camerawork removed when Jason asked everyone to look around; cameras panned around the audience and 8H.
Sketches
Parent/Teacher Meeting - The line "write I've been bad on the whiteboard" originally was "write I've been bad on the whiteboard 69 times". - During dress, there was originally another couple that walked in as the teacher and mother were making out on the desk, and said something to the tune of "I guess w

I’ve been entering the raffle every summer to no avail and I woke up this morning to get the email!!! Literally sh*tting crying vomiting right now. Will keep y’all updated with the process and hopefully differences between DR and the live show!! AHHH!
