A list of puns related to "Japanese chisel"
My local Woodcraft has a sale on the 6 piece set of Fujikawa Okyo Chisels, theyβre considerably cheaper than any others Iβve seen, even on eBay. Are they worth their money or are they junk meant to attract the eye of newbies like me?
Should I just keep throwing out bids on eBay, or is the Fujikawa set actually alright? Iβd assume for $20/chisel theyβre probably not the best quality.
I'd love to hear opinions please! I'm saving for a nice set and relish the advise from those with more experience/wisdom than myself.
Been using the artificial "blue" aoto stones (jinzou aotoishi δΊΊι ιη ₯η³) for a couple years. I've heard mixed advice on sealing the sides to prevent cracking but at this point I'm willing to look at natural stones that cost way too much so I don't have to deal with this, but that road seems somewhat unviable given limited availability and the questionable honesty/accuracy of online sellers.
Any advice is welcome.
I recently got my first Japanese chisels. I know I need to set the hoops, but Iβve run into a snag - no matter what I do, I canβt get the hoops off the handles. Iβve tried tapping around the edges with a hammer and screwdriver, but I donβt want to do anything too crazy and risk damaging them. On each chisel the hoops stick out above the handles about 1/16β. This means that when using them with a hammer the hammer would be hitting metal instead of wood. Is it a bad idea to just use them as is? Everything I can find on the internet just says the hoops should come off pretty easily. Thanks in advance for any help.
I was looking at the Fujikawa Okyo set that Woodcraft sells. They seem to be considerably cheaper than most others.
Are the Fujikawa chisels from woodcraft worth it or should I just keep scrolling through eBay until I find good, old ones?
