What is Israeli conscription / military service like?
Hello from Russia. We have one year of mandatory military conscription for 18-27 year old males into the "army" (in quotes because since 2006 conscripts are no longer deployed to combat, the professional paid contractor Russian military soldiers get deployed to combat zones abroad but conscripts are never sent to fight so it's not like "real army").
I recently completed my military conscription and it was quite boring. A waste of a year. Just lectures and random boring work. Met some people I became friends with but really was uneventful. At least food was surprisingly good.
I heard Israel mandates military service as well. How is it? What is the general experience like? Do people like it/look forward to it? Or no?
