I've already been digging through earlier posts with the same question, though I didn't really find what I was looking for.

I've fallen into a rabbit hole on YouTube after I got into analog photography; I think analog photography has a lot of great content on YouTube and I really enjoy watching this stuff. I find it as enjoyable and relaxing as educational. I really like the style of grainydays, Willem Verbeek, negativefeedback, Brae Hunziker... (Note: I don't necessarily watch those for the "masterclass photographs" or the LoFi beats....)

I seem to enjoy laid back, photography-focussed videos with a story, not (only) trying to sell me gear (except Squarespace subscriptions). It feels like you're talking about photography or going on a photo walk with a buddy.

I am trying to get back more into digital photography but I feel the (usual) channels geared towards digital are either often too "philosophical" (The Art Of Photography; The Photographic Eye;...) or too "energetic" (Peter McKinnon) for my likings.

So here's my question - are there any good YouTubers that do laid back, quality content about (digital) photography without too much sales-pitches, overly crazy lifestyles or getting deep into quasi-philosophy all the time that you could recommend?

I really like IU doing songs with other singers/rappers like Palette feat. G-Dragon and Soulmate with Zico, but she's actually done so many collabs by this point. One of my favorite k-pop songs maybe ever is The Leaders by G-Dragon, CL, and Teddy who were all leaders of their respective groups at the time. The way SNSD's Gee was sampled for it is just chef's kiss. More recently, I've been obsessed with Rosario by Epik High feat. CL and Zico. Lollipop by BIGBANG and 2NE1 should be considered iconic simply for all of its cheesiness. Okey Dokey by Mino feat. Zico is such a bop that even my siblings love it (and they aren't too fond of k-pop in general).

Collabs between k-pop and foreign artists are also great. I particularly like Niliria by G-Dragon feat. Missy Elliott and I think everyone will agree that Ice Cream by Blackpink with Selena Gomez is huge even if you don't like it (I enjoyed it though). And of course, how could I not mention songs by members within a group (sub-units, if you will, but only as long as it's more of a duo/trio). I really love Zutter by GD&TOP and Good Boy by GDxTaeyang, but I also remember listening to Naughty by Irene & Seulgi non-stop when I was getting into k-pop.

Anyway, this turned out longer than I wanted it to haha. But the question is, who would you want to see collab that you just know would be iconic? I personally want to see BIGBANG back in the game which could possibly lead to more collabs within the group and maybe also GD collabing with other artists (another song with CL would be so good :') It will probably never happen, but Blackpink members collabing with BTS members could be amazing (Rose feat. RM, anyone?). Also, would really love to see SKZ members doing collabs. Maybe someone from 3RACHA collabing with another 4th gen rapper to have something like Okey Dokey?

I had started working on a legbeard project but I'm putting that on hold to finish this saga up since ReddX has carried it forth to the YouTubes. So far it hasn't been met with a Last Jedi level of vitriol, so...idunno...hooray?

The Cast

OP: Me. 30-year-old gaming nerd working at a nearby nonprofit that offered neither livable wages nor human decency to their employees. The only silver lining was that the office I was at was within walking distance of the game shop.

Character: Faris (Chaf’ari’sabsen) – Chiss medic with the life-saving skills of a world-class surgeon and the people skills of a methed-up Canadian goose. Combat-wise he could heal or yell at people, but his blaster saw about as much action as an incel at a lesbian bar.

Mac: The Bill to my Ted. The Goose to my Maverick. He liked anime and gaming but the word “m’lady” never touched his lips and he never wore a fedora (except maybe in the “Most Wanted” mafia-themed photo we got at the state fair in high school. I'd need to find it to confirm.)

Character: Nalla – Falleen scoundrel with a ship full of charm and a moral compass that pointed whichever direction was most convenient at the time. Mac wasn’t in the habit of playing decisive characters, but he was peeking outside his comfort zone with this one.

Peacekeeper: Chainsmoker’s BFF and burgeoning big brother figure to Hal. Even when things were at their worst Peacekeeper tried to see the best in everyone. Bless the boy for his optimism, may the world never crush that in him.

Character: Savvo – An agile Rodian with the reflexes of a coked-out mongoose. A good at sniper and pilot on paper, if only the dice would cooperate.

Chainsmoker:

No Deandre tonight. So lucky Luka gets a pass. Normally he'd have to do a 3rd round of Axe body spray at halftime.
Don't relax too much though, Luka. Because McGee is no picnic either. He's tall, strong, and a little nutty... like an oak tree, except he has more rings.

I had like 6 more tree jokes, but ill just leave.

Bigs who fit their prototype of being at least average defensively and mostly just finish lobs/dunks/layups created for them are a dime a dozen. See Nerlens, Nic Claxton, Poeltl, Looney, Robert Williams, Mitchell Robinson, etc

Unless they provide other exceptional skills like passing, 3pt shooting, or ability to switch and defend the perimeter, is it a bad idea to overpay bigs?

Hello /r/anime!

As 2021 has ended I thought it would be nice to look back at the year of anime we had. This is the second year I'm doing this, link to last year's if you're curious on checking that out. I decided to make this little post again to share my controversial unique tastes but also maybe direct people to some underwatched shows!

Criteria is simply based on my personal preferences and opinions so for those who know me these are going to differ from the norm and probably your own opinions. Winners are determined by their genre, so which show shows off their genre the best will be taken into account. No committee, no jurors, no audience voting, just me sadly.

These are simply the Amewards and my questionable subjective opinion. Only entries that finished in 2021 are being counted so sorry Ousama Ranking!

Feel free to post your thoughts, comments and criticisms below! If you see a show not mentioned here then there's a good chance I didn't get around to watching it as I only did 90+ entries this year. My MAL for reference.

#Anime of the Year

Didn't think I'd only give out only one 9 this year but it made picking my AotY easy at least. I've been saying it all year but Uma Musume Season 2 is by far the best thing I watched this year. It's sports anime done right and it takes an already good show from season 1 and turns up the dial on everything from the characters to the races themselves. This is a must watch for fans of the sports genre! Second place goes to another "sequel" but not sequel in SSSS.Dynazenon which was able to not only take a step up over the previous entry but also give us a really cute romance in the process! Third place goes to Vanitas no Carte which just had such a wonderful blend of characters, comedy, romance and plot to make for one of the most fun all around shows I got to watch this year.

Highly recommend all 3 of these!!

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For my 2022 reading challenge I have decided to read 1-3 books from every country in the world. This past year I attempted to do the same but the lack of preparation meant I was bogged down finding and waiting for books. Below is my reading list I have compiled as several people have mentioned they were interest.

Facts

It contains 520ish books with two countries I still need to find something for. 40% are female, 55% are male, and 5% are by various authors. There is a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. It includes everything from memoirs, cookbooks, histories, anthologies, legends, folkstories, poetry, plays, fantasy, romance, chick-lit, and scifi. The bulk is literary fiction.

Methodology

I started with the books I owned that I haven't read or wish to reread. I then looked through my TBR list on goodreads and reassigned those. From there I looked up my favorite authors on https://www.literature-map.com/, and included other authors similar to my favorites. From there I googled each country for their top 1-2 most popular authors. I finished with suggestions from reddit (including the country threads on r/books) and the amazing https://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/thelist/ . Authors with unlisted titles are because I was not able to find a copy of any book by the author at my library or for purchase (<7$) secondhand. These will need to be ILL and I’ll be deciding on the exact title when I apply for the loan.

There have been rumors of a possible expansion, so let’s imagine it does happen, but the NBA decides to only add one new team to the league (sorry Vegas), bringing back the beloved Seattle Supersonics. The Sonics are back babbyyyyyyyy!

Now the Sonics need to build their team from ground up, starting with the expansion draft, and following it with signing players in the off-season.

Here are some simplified terms of the expansion draft:

1. All 30 NBA teams will have the right to protect 8 players on their roster. Anyone on the current roster is protectable, including restricted free agents. If a restricted free agent is left unprotected by his former team, he is available for selection by the Supersonics, who would then hold his Bird Rights for the up-coming off-season. Teams will typically have 4-7 players unprotected. Unrestricted free agents can neither be protected from nor selected in the expansion draft -- they are essentially ignored.
   Players who are likely to be left unprotected by their former teams include aging, overpaid veterans, unproven bench players, players who do not fit in financially with their team, or who disrupt team chemistry.
2. The Sonics may only select 1 player per team.
3. The Sonics must work within 2/3 of the normal rules of the NBA salary cap, so there will be salary-related restrictions which apply to the team's selections. The team’s salary cap for the 2022-2023 season will only be 2/3 of the league cap (112.414 million), meaning 74.93 million. The minimum team salary is also 2/3 of the leagues' minimum team salary (101.173 million), meaning 67.449 million.
   The expansion draft occurs after the conclusion of the 2022 NBA Finals, but prior to the 2022 NBA Draft. The Sonics do not participate in the lottery, but automatically get the 5th and the 35th pick of the draft.
4. There are no restrictions on player positions during the draft.
5. The Sonics must select at least 14 players.
