Ageing is an inevitable condition that afflicts all humans. Recent achievements, such as the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells, have delivered preliminary evidence that slowing down and reversing the ageing process might be possible. However, these techniques usually involve complete dedifferentiation, i.e. somatic cell identity is lost as cells are converted to a pluripotent state. Separating the rejuvenative properties of reprogramming from dedifferentiation is a promising prospect, termed epigenetic rejuvenation. Reprogramming-induced rejuvenation strategies currently involve using Yamanaka factors (typically transiently expressed to prevent full dedifferentiation) and are promising candidates to safely reduce biological age. Here, we review the development and potential of reprogramming-induced rejuvenation as an anti-ageing strategy.

Ageing is a complex process that affects all humans, and with it comes an increased susceptibility to a range of diseases, tissue dysfunction and mortality [1, 2]. Many st
... keep reading on reddit β‘I have an appointment Monday to discuss how this couple play a role in how exhausted I have been over the past 18 months as well as if the thickening of the wall of the adrenal gland has any role as well. I feel in pain and falling asleep in the middle of the day. I'm hoping maybe soon I'll hear my endocrinologist say oh I know exactly how we can make you feel better.
It sucks when you do not look super sick on the outside of everyone just figures your exaggerating. I'm not risking it again last time I played chicken with pretending I'm not sick to keep up appearances. Last time I did that I was in the ICU with a 12% ejection fraction.
Sorry for venting just hoping this is going to all be better and back to my daily routine.
I think I'm missing something, but at FIRST GLANCE it appears that IGF acts like glucagon in that it stimulates glycogenolysis and lipolysis. It being called "insulinlike" seems misleading...
Genomic imprinting is an epigenetic phenomenon that causes genes to be expressed in a parent-specific manner. In some cases, only the paternal allele is expressed and rhe maternal allele is transcriptionally inactive. For others, the opposite is the case. This is a form of allelic exclusion, and the relevant gene is said to exhibit functional hemizygosity.
The gene encoding Igf2 is only expressed from paternally inherited allele. What causes this selection?

Despite consuming equal calories, NCKD-fed mice lost weight (up to 15% body weight) relative to low-fat and Western diet-fed mice and required additional kcal to equalize body weight. Fifty-one days after injection, NCKD mice tumor volumes were 33% smaller than Western mice (rank-sum, P = 0.009). There were no differences in tumor volume between low-fat and NCKD mice. Dietary treatment was significantly associated with survival (log-rank, P = 0.006), with the longest survival among the NCKD mice, followed by the low-fat mice. Serum IGFBP-3 was highest and IGF-1:IGFBP-3 ratio was lowest among NCKD mice while serum insulin and IGF-1 levels were highest in Western mice. NCKD mice had significantly decreased hepatic fatty infiltration relative to the other arms.
