A list of puns related to "Insensitivity to sample size"
https://twitter.com/startingvbasket/status/1456845742098632706?t=P9EjW7wnsp2ICSMrrdcvEw&s=19
This is even worse than I thought, although Jokic is leading in literally every single possible stat there is for the Nuggets, it shows how absolutely awful the rest of the team is. Him also leading 3p% is also extremely hilarious
So should I opt-in or out???? I would LOVE full sizes but I feel like I am missing out on a lot by opting out!!!
Hello,
Say I have this binomal process that happens and I have a ML model that tries to predict the outcome of each of the bernoulli processes.
The ML model has been trained on a possible biased dataset which itself have been labeled through some heuristic-rules thanks to some additional metadata I so happened to have on the dataset. I believe the "weak" labeling is sufficiently enough for the model to learn correctly and handle mislabeled data with some regularization.
Now for monitoring purposes but also for accuracy measurement, I'm thinking of asking an expert for handlabeling some sort of golden test data, so that there is no or few mislabeled data. Obviously, this handlabeling is very expensive and I would like to keep it as small as possible while still having enough statistical significance.
I dont have a stats-background (I'm more from CS) but I've read a bit about hypothesis testing and I understand enough to know that it could be an answer to my question, although the use of it seems to be debatable. I haven't yet found a rigorous and detailed explanation of the whole concept, but my understanding is that there is a relationship between:
-Sample size (linked to the sample variance)
-Effect size (how small of a change I want to be able to detect)
-Confidence level (as no sample data can ever confirm an hypothesis, only disprove it. What the sample data can say is how unlikely it is for it to happen under the null hypothesis ? With regard to that, the confidence level is just the probability of drawing a sample for which the test will give a correct outcome ?)
Is that the correct interpretation ? If so, how come in every "sample size calculator" I find, they all ask about the population size (which in my case is undefined because it's a continuous process that can go on indefinitely) ? Shouldn't they only use effect size and confidence level to compute the minimum sample size required?
Or am I getting this all wrong and they refer to the population size as the size of a population A which they want to compare to an alternate population B which have been processed in an alternate way and we're trying to compare this alternate way with the regular way of A ? Then in this case, my A and my B are actually the same, only the processing way changes since I can apply different models to a same data point ?
Thanks
PS : I find this very mathematically interesting, are there any good books with both theory and application about hypothesis tes
... keep reading on reddit β‘We only have 96 players filling our form for the previous phase. We could've considered posting it anyway if the data that we found are consistent with the previous phase, but we found out that there's too much of a discrepancy with the ownership rates of our previous infographics, as you can see here:
We omitted the characters with ownership rates that didn't change more than 5%. As you can see, even though Albedo and Eula's increase in ownership rate can be attributed to their rerun banners, the other changes are most likely because of our low sample size.
We figured that if we post our infographics anyway, it will be very inaccurate. There's also not much that you can get in comparison to the usage rates provided by spiralabyss.org, even though they haven't collected data for Itto and Gorou yet. We might consider posting infographics specifically for Itto and Gorou, but we're not sure how useful it would be.
We apologize for not collecting enough samples. We'll try spreading our form to the r/GenshinImpact subreddit and to Genshin Discord servers one month from now when the spiral abyss lineup updates, we don't want to share it too frequently. In the meantime, we hope that you will continue to support us by filling our form (bit(dot)ly/spiralstats or https://forms.gle/9cFR2Fi4CTLyf1fv5) and sharing it with your friends and communities. With the Lakers cruising, I wanted to check-in on the Blazers. Alot of rumors were swirling.
NBA.com publishes impact stats. See it here:
They can show you how players perform on/off and gives the whole team net ratings.
Essentially, all defensive ratings are terrible and above 110 for all players when Dame and CJ play together.
Once CJ goes off the court and Dame on, everybody's defensive rating is below 106, except Tony Snell as an outlier with limited minutes. This is just incredible.
It's clearly a problem with CJ. I'm not going to post any highlight clips, and I hope CJ well to get healthy. CJ needs a new team. I don't even think the Blazers need a player like CJ right now and need defensive stoppers at SG/SF.
Good luck blazer fans.
I'm conducting a small-scale study for a graduate course of mine. I have three groups. A priori power analysis I conducted through G*Power gave me a number of 42, which is 14 per group. I'm wondering how much it is OK to exceed the required sample size. Though high power is what we always want, I once heard that the number should not be exceeded a lot either since this may obscure the results too. As a newbie, I would like to learn whether there is an acceptable range above the output of a priori power analysis. Considering the possibility of outliers to be removed across the data, for instance, exceeding should be preferable as far as I am concerned.
I am plottng two histograms for the Duration of a taxi trip.
Now I am plotting one Histogramm for "normal_cabs" and one for "luxury_cabs"
However in my Dataframe that I am plotting from therw are way more overall trips in classic_cabs
So I can not actually say if there is a Tendency towards having longer Trips in luxure cabs visually
How could I maybe plot these histogramms with a ratio of
trips per Duration Bin / total trips per cab type
Any help appreciated
This has been happening for over a year now and I can't take it anymore - so here I am in the one place that usually always helps me solve my PT issues. :)
Is this a PT bug? Because it happens on both my laptop & desktop. Running Big Sur MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Hi guys, so from the sample size i ran a statistical analysis that included 65 individuals, the results were not significant but in the note section can i put the sample size and how many individuals were there for each group condition?

I'm working on a project that will require timing a process. We'll be working with basic descriptive stats: mean, std deviation, range, etc.
The challenge I have is: how many samples are enough?
Reaching back to college stats, I think we could collect enough such that our confidence intervals are <10% the mean. That seems good enough for our purposes.
So my basic question is: any better strategies to approach this challenge?
I think it's kinda obvious that data is more reliable the more sample size it has. The day after a patch, sample size is very small, so take it with a grain of salt and wait for the sample size to grow to make complaints about champions, instead of making rants for free karma. Ty for reading, peace.
When Iβve addressed this with my manager and director they both βsayβ they donβt know exactly how itβs calculated. Thereβs gotta be a theory where they do this to keep us working at the peak levels without providing the staff this place really needs.
So - here's the thing - I've been tracking every poker session I've played since 2012, but for various reasons (mostly because most of my games were mixed fixed-limit games before then) I'm only looking at 2017-onward. I did play more *poker* than this, but I'm only including "big bet" games - so basically just NLHE, PLO, and PLO8 sessions. And I'm only including cash, not tournaments.
So I finally did the math and I have about 250 hours of live poker tracked down. I know that's not a huge sample size - even at, say, 40 hands per hour. that's only around ~10,000 hands, but it's a *start.* I'm hoping someone can help me out with some stats analysis (I was never very good at math - dyscalculic).
First off, I'm not sure I've even calculated my BB/hr rate right. If I am right, then the result is that I'm positive to the tune of +20BB/hr over 250 hrs. That doesn't seem possible without a hell of a lot of luck or a big math error.
Secondly, let's say that I have done the math right. How can I get a good idea of where the error bars are on my winrate? Am I +20BB +/- 10BB or +20BB +/- 100BB?
I put the info in google sheets and while it's read-only, I've enabled comments. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
Would love to get your input.
